    Abstract: The power toothbrush, which has a rotating brushhead movement, includes a housing with a motor mounted therein having an armature which in operation rotates through an arc of predetermined magnitude. The toothbrush also includes a brushhead mounted on a shaft which is connected to an output mass. A spring assembly couples the armature to the output mass, the spring assembly including two spring portions with a node point therebetween, wherein when the armature rotates, the brushhead moves in an opposite direction. The frequency of the movement of the armature is set equal to the resonant frequency of the spring coupling system and the output assembly.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a high-pressure discharge lamp of the ceramic metal halide type of the Philips MasterColor series having a molybdenum coil wrapped around the discharge vessel and at least a portion of the electrode feed through means, and having power ranges of about 150 W to about 1000 W. Such lamps are provided with a discharge vessel which encloses a discharge space. The discharge vessel has a ceramic wall and is closed by a ceramic plug. An electrode which is located inside the discharge space is connected to an electric conductor by way of a leadthrough element. The leadthrough element projects through the ceramic plug with a close fit and is connected thereto in a gastight manner by way of a sealing ceramic. The leadthrough element has a first part which is formed by a cermet at the area of the gastight connection.

    Abstract: In a method of visualizing a three-dimensional volume image data set (1), a two-dimensional image (15) is formed by projecting volume image data on a projection plane in that for each pixel (16) there is determined an intensity value which corresponds to the maximum value or minimum value of the mean intensity along a projection path (17) through the imaged volume and associated with the relevant pixel. In order to determine the mean intensity, averaging is performed over a plurality of intensity values which neighbor one another along the projection path (17). In order to achieve effective noise suppression as well as adequate along image contrast , averaging is performed over at least partly overlapping interval (18 to 22) along the projection path (17). The method offer the advantage that the user can choose the width of the averaging interval as an additional free parameter, so that image contrast and background noise can be influenced independently.

The temperature sensor can be simply adapted by variable configuration of the plug system and spacing element to various types of customer-specific requirements.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a high-pressure gas discharge lamp, particularly a motorcar lamp, comprising a bulb including at least two neck portions and a vacuum-tight discharge vessel of quartz glass, at least two electrodes projecting into the discharge vessel, and a filling in the discharge vessel which, in the operating state, is in a discharge state. Such lamps are used, in particular, in headlights of motorcars. In order to ensure that the arc of the high-pressure gas discharge lamp generates a higher luminescence in a small area, and the lamp can be used as a light source in motorcar headlights, the discharge vessel of the high-pressure gas discharge lamp in accordance with the invention encloses a discharge space having a width B below 4 mm and a length C below 8 mm, and the filling comprises NaI, ScI3, Xe, ZnI3 and is free of Hg. Surprisingly it has been found that the use ZnI2 in the filling causes the arc to generate a higher luminescence in the area of the arc axis per dimension of the arc.

    Abstract: A dielectric film is formed by atomic layer deposition to conformally fill a narrow, deep trench for device isolation. The method of the illustrated embodiments includes alternately pulsing vapor-phase reactants in a string of cycles, where each cycle deposits no more than about a monolayer of material, capable of completely filling high aspect ratio trenches. Additionally, the trench-fill material composition can be tailored by processes described herein, particularly to match the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) to that of the surrounding substrate within which the trench is formed. Mixed phases of mullite and silica have been found to meet the goals of device isolation and matched CTE. The described process includes mixing atomic layer deposition cycles of aluminum oxide and silicon oxide in ratios selected to achieve the desired composition of the isolation material, namely on the order of 30% alumina and 70% silicon oxide by weight.

    Abstract: Coherent illumination is used to illuminate a symmetrical alignment mark with an image rotation interferometer producing two images of the alignment mark, rotating the images 1800 with respect to each other, and recombining the images interferometrically. The recombined images interfere constructively or destructively, in an amplitude and or polarization sense depending upon the method of recombination, when the alignment sensor is located at the center of the alignment mark. The rotation interferometer is preferably a solid glass assembly made of a plurality of prisms. A detector extracts the alignment information from the image rotation interferometer. The resulting center of the alignment mark is accurately determined. A relatively large number of different alignment mark patterns may be utilized, as long as the alignment mark patterns exhibit one hundred and eighty degree symmetry. Parallel lines, a grid pattern, or a checkerboard grating may be used.
