  • Patent number: 4222441
Abstract: An implement has a hollow frame portion and tool means on shafts journalled for rotation on the frame portion. The upper ends of the shafts are held in bearings in housings located in the top wall of the frame portion and pinion gears are housed within the frame portion below the housings. The bearing housings are each formed by two separable portions that hold a bearing between them. The upper housing portion has a deformable relatively thin cover that visibly deforms if the bearing breaks and the separable portions contain any broken parts. A further, lower bearing can be held by the bottom wall of the frame portion. Fastening means such as bolts on a surrounding ring secure the housings in place.

  • Patent number: 4223145
Abstract: A process for the preparation of organic mono- and polyisocyanates is described, in which a hydrogen chloride adduct of a trisubstituted urea is thermally decomposed to form the isocyanate. The hydrogen chloride adduct at minimum contains the stoichiometric amount of HCl, and at maximum a 10 mole-% excess. The process is carried out in a closed system at a temperature between about 80.degree. and 180.degree. C.; the reaction is effected either in a melt or in the presence of an inert organic solvent.

  • Patent number: 4221086
Abstract: Credit card operated, automated teller machines are located in the vestibule of a bank where they may be accessed during normal banking hours. During off hours, a partition system segregates the vestibule from the remainder of the bank. Off-hour access to the vestibule is advantageously controlled by a customer activated door lock operated by the credit card and reader located at the bank door. Thus, access to the vestibule and the automated teller machines are controlled by the customer own credit card.

  • Patent number: 4220083
Abstract: To provide for engagement between adjacent bearer rings throughout their entire engagement line or surface, in spite of slight misalignment or tilting of the actual axis of rotation of the shaft of the printing cylinder with which the bearer ring is associated, the bearer ring is located on the shaft of the printing cylinder with a slightly spherical engagement surface, preferably by attaching a hub to the shaft having a slightly convex outer surface which matches a slightly concave inner surface of the bearer ring. Preferably, a shock-absorbing, wear-resistant elastic material is interposed between the respective engagement surfaces. To permit alignment of the bearer ring with respect to the cylinder, and exact concentricity, eccentric alignment pins are provided, engaging the bearer ring and the end face of the printing cylinder, at least three such attachment arrangements being located circumferentially on the end face of the printing cylinder, and bearer ring, respectively.

Abstract: An anti-rattle element for a curtain of a closure, the curtain having a corrugated surface and, adjacent to its edges, either a strap riveted to crests of each corrugation or bridges extending across the troughs of the corrugations. The strap or bridges form detent surfaces engageable by a resilient latching tongue protruding rearwardly from a body of the anti-rattle element. The tongue has a tip that engages either the bridge or the strap to hold the anti-rattle element to the curtain. The body of the element also has first and second abutment side faces and a rear face having a recess therein which embraces a portion of an edge margin of the curtain. The anti-rattle element is connected to the curtain in such manner that its abutment faces are disposed respectively on opposite sides of the curtain and face outwardly therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4217824
Abstract: A gap cover of arcuate cross section for covering the longitudinal channel in the cylinder of a printing press, the cover being dimensioned to bridge the gap and held in place by first and second fastening assemblies accommodated below the presented surface. The first fastening assembly includes an axially oriented hook and stirrup, while the second assembly includes a radially oriented shaft having a flat head of oblong profile forming a pair of wings. The cover has a recessed portion radially aligned with the latching element and containing an aperture of mating oblong profile bounded by land surfaces so that the head of the latching element may project therethrough, for locking engagement with the lands upon rotation through 90.degree. by a turning tool. The shaft of the latching element has an associated detent for snapping the head from its free position to its locking position and for securely holding it there until intentionally released by additional turning movement.
