Abstract: A system and method are configured to monitor composition of a flow of breathable gas being provided to a subject. The monitoring is accomplished in a sidestream configuration in which control of a pump and a detector are implemented in a tightly integrated controller.
Abstract: Medical images are acquired in a tomosynthesis process. Processed 3D volume data representing a target acquired from scanning may be viewed from a set of forward projection directions, in which one or more forward projections through the processed 3D volume data is oblique relative to a central acquisition direction of the scanning process. The first set of forward projections is then displayed as a set of synthetic mammograms. Therefore, a medical practitioner can more easily identify abnormalities within a target volume, because the relative displacement of abnormalities at different depths in the target volume will change at different rates dependent on the viewing angle as the viewing position is moved around the target.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide for a document fraud detection system for identifying fraudulent documents. The document fraud detection system can include up to three steps of fraud detection, where if the document fails any of the three steps, the document can be flagged for further review. In another embodiment, the document fraud detection system can score each of the three tests, where the scores represent the likelihood that the document is fraudulent. If the combined score satisfies a predetermined criterion, the document can be flagged as potentially fraudulent. The three tests can include analyzing an scanned image of the document and comparing to other similar documents to determine if there have been any alterations. The second test can compare indents to previous documents, and the third test can analyze chemical and biometric factors that may indicate whether the document has been altered.
Abstract: The invention relates to a peptide having a length of no more than 100 amino acids and comprising at least 19 contiguous amino acids from the amino acid sequence of the human PRAME protein, wherein the peptide comprises at least one HLA class II epitope and at least one HLA class I epitope from the amino acid sequence of the human PRAME protein and to its use as such or in a composition as a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of cancer.
Abstract: A powered oral care apparatus (2) has a pump-free fluid delivery system for delivering one or more fluids to the oral cavity of a user. The oral care apparatus may employ an oral care assembly (30) that has a capsule member (38) for delivering fluid through a number of openings (31, 46) in response to movement of a head (4) of the oral care apparatus. The oral care apparatus may also employ an oral care assembly (62) having a diaphragm member (84) and a mass member (88) coupled thereto wherein, in response to motion being imparted to the brushhead, the mass member and diaphragm member generate a pumping force to cause fluid to be delivered out of the oral care assembly.

Abstract: Ultrasound systems and methods provide a workflow to automatically identify a fetal heartbeat. A region of interest (ROI) is identified in an ultrasound image and an ROI icon is positioned around or over a fetal pole and/or fetal heart. The ultrasound system produces spatially different M-mode lines associated with the ROI icon. The ultrasound system can identify a fetal heartbeat and estimate the fetal heart rate from echo signals received from echo signals associated with at least one of the spatially different M-mode lines. The echo signals for the M-mode lines can also be ranked according to the likely presence of a fetal heartbeat in the echo data.

Abstract: A system and method for identifying a characteristic of a region of a subject, such as whether a region is cancerous, which includes an ultrasonic imaging device that acquires a first and second set of time series data from a region of a subject during a first and second time period. The system includes a comparison device (120) that receives first and second sets of time series data (116, 118) and computes differential data (119) therebetween at one or more features. A processing device (130) receives the differential data and inputs the differential data into a classifier (132) trained with reference differential data concerning the one or more features as well as an identification of the ground truth concerning the region. A determination device (136) is configured to determine whether the region contains the characteristic based on an output from the classifier.

Abstract: The invention relates to a combined imaging detector (110) for the detection of x-ray and gamma quanta. The combined imaging detector (110) is adapted for simultaneous detection of gamma and x-ray quanta. The combined imaging detector (110) includes an x-ray anti-scatter grid (111), a layer of x-ray scintillator elements (112), a first photodetector array (113), a layer of gamma scintillator elements (114), and a second photodetector array (115) that are arranged in a stacked configuration along a radiation-receiving direction (116). The x-ray anti-scatter grid (111) comprises a plurality of septa (117A, B, C) that define a plurality of apertures (118) which are configured to collimate both x-ray quanta and gamma quanta received from the radiation receiving direction (116) such that received gamma quanta are collimated only by the x-ray anti-scatter grid (111). The use of the x-ray anti-scatter grid as a collimator for received gamma quanta results in a significantly lighter combined imaging detector.

Abstract: A dual- or multi-resonant RF/MR transmit and/or receive antenna (1, 2) especially in the form of a planar antenna or a volume array antenna (also called antenna array) is used for MR image generation of at least two different nuclei like e.g. 1H, 19F, 3He, 13C, 23Na or other nuclei having different Larmor frequencies. The antenna is coupled by an inductive coupling device (LI) with related transmit/receive channels (T/R). By such an inductive coupling, the tuning and matching of the antenna at the different resonant frequencies is easier than in case of a galvanic connection. The dual- or multi-resonant RF/MR transmit and/or receive antenna is used in an MR imaging apparatus.

Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system for shear wave measurement transmits push pulses in the form of a sheet of energy. The sheet of energy produces a shear wavefront which is a plane wave, which does not suffer from the 1/R radial dissipation of push pulse force as does a conventional push pulse generated along a single push pulse vector. The sheet of energy can be planar, curved, or in some other two or three dimensional shape. A curved sheet of energy can produce a shear wave source which focuses into a thin line, which increases the resolution and sensitivity of the measuring techniques used to detect the shear wave effect.

Abstract: A display device has a light blocking arrangement for selectively blocking light which has or would be emitted at large lateral angles. The display can be configured so that light reaching these elements is either allowed to reach the viewer or is blocked from reaching the viewer. This means that a public viewing mode can be chosen or a private viewing mode. The light blocking elements are controlled optically in order to simplify the construction and control.
Abstract: When communicating using active load modulation in a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system, a carrier signal having a carrier frequency is received from a reader device. In response, a modulated signal is generated and a burst of a sending signal is transmitted. The sending signal is decayed at the end of the burst.
