    Abstract: A culture device to apply uniform stress to cells is proposed. A culture device is formed in a rectangular box shape from a deformable material, comprising a bottom membrane and side walls upstanding from the entire periphery of said bottom membrane, wherein an engaging member is formed in opposing side walls on a line extended from a peripheral edge of said bottom membrane. By providing the latching member in the culture membrane so as to latch the cells to the latching member, the slippage between the bottom membrane and sample cells is forestalled upon the extension of the culture membrane.

    Abstract: A semiconductor radiation detector 10 comprises a Si substrate 11 of an N-ype of low resistance, an arsenic coating layer 12 formed on the Si substrate, and a CdTe growth layer 13 of a P-type of high resistance laminated and formed thereon by the MOVPE method, which is divided into multiple plane elements of a hetero junction structure by means of division grooves 15 extending from the CdTe growth layer surface to the Si substrate. The Si substrate is heated in a hydrogen reducing atmosphere of a high temperature, and its surface is cleaned. On this Si substrate, GaAs powder or GaAs crystals are thermally decomposed, and coated by arsenic molecule to an extent at about one molecular layer, and an arsenic coating layer is thereby formed. On the Si substrate forming the arsenic coating layer, a CdTe growth layer is formed by the MOVPE method to a film thickness of about 0.2 to 0.5 mm in an atmosphere of about 450 to 500 deg. C.

    Abstract: trans-RuH(&eegr;1-BH4)[(S)-xylbinap][(S,S)-dpen] (0.00125 mmol), acetophenone (5.0 mmol), and 2-propanol (2.5 mL) were placed in an autoclave, and the resulting solution was repeatedly subject 5 times to a procedure of performing pressure reduction and argon introduction while stirring the solution for deaeration. A hydrogen tank was then connected to the autoclave, and after replacing the air inside an introduction tube with hydrogen, the pressure inside the autoclave was adjusted to 5 atmospheres and then hydrogen was released until the pressure dropped to 1 atmosphere. After repeating this procedure 10 times, the hydrogen pressure was adjusted to 8 atmospheres and stirring at 25° C. was performed for 12 hours. By concentrating the solution obtained by depressurization and subjecting the crude product to simple distillation, (R)-1-phenylethanol (yield: 95%) in the form of a colorless oily substance was obtained at an ee of 99%.
