Abstract: One website mining embodiment is for characterizing first time users of a website, collecting user session data of the users visiting the website and identifying first time visitors, determining features of the first time visitors utilizing the user session data, determining rules utilizing the features of the first time visitors, monitoring actions of the first time visitors on the website, updating the rules utilizing the monitored actions of the first time visitors and recommending web content utilizing the rules to the first time visitor.

Abstract: According to some aspects described herein, a system may determine whether a network actor appears to be using an intermediary such as a VPN and/or proxy server. This may be accomplished by directing the network actor to request and/or access a network-segment identification resource which may, in some embodiments, be stored in another region of the global network. The system may include links and/or other identifiers pointing the network actor to one or more network-segment identification resources. The network actor may access the network-segment identification resources using the links or identifiers, and the system may use information about the request for the network-segment identification resource to determine whether the network actor is associated with multiple source addresses.

Abstract: A method for intent mining is provided. The method includes performing a preliminary search of a constrained source using one or more seed phrases to generate multiple preliminary search results representing different ways of expressing a desired intent. The method also includes identifying each of the plurality of preliminary search results that have expressed the desired intent to generate a plurality of intent results. The method also includes producing multiple action search strings around one or more action verbs in each of the multiple intent results. The method further includes applying each of the multiple action search strings on one or more non-constrained sources to generate multiple action search results.

Abstract: Automated, algorithmic quality control is performed for digital content converted from one form or format to another. Such conversion may be made of movies, television programs, feature films, advertisements, or any other content. The conversion process may be semi or fully automated, and may include a range of alterations, such as pulldown or frame rate conversions, size and/or resolution conversions, addition of content, deletion of content, and so forth. Actual content contained in pre- and post-converted frames is utilized, such as by image recognition techniques, as a base for the quality control routines. Audio data may also be considered. The quality control is fully or nearly fully automated with minimal manual involvement.

Abstract: An event trigger data string is formulated and added to digital content for distribution to an audience via broadcast, satellite, cable or any other technology. The event trigger data string includes identification of an event source, identification of an operation to be performed, and a payload. A controller reads the data string and outputs a command to an appropriate event source for alteration of a digital content stream based upon the identified operation. The payload may, for example, identify an advertisement or notice to be spliced into or out of the digital content stream. Such event trigger data strings may be added to many different digital content streams, and a router or switching component may distribute the streams to systems that disseminate them to the audience. The technique enables interaction with different event sources, and allows command of multiple different operations by these event sources.

Abstract: Transfer of data files, such as large files for digital media, is performed through the intermediary of a gateway communication manager (GCM) that resides in an interface zone between external clients and an internal network. The external clients are registered with the GCM and request transfer of data files to the internal network. The GCM identifies a transfer agent to handle the transfer, and allocates a portion of shared bandwidth. If insufficient bandwidth is available or transfer agents are unavailable, the requested transfer may be placed in a queue and transfer occurs when bandwidth and agents can accommodate the request. The GCM may prioritize and re-prioritize transfers, such as based on the sender, content, and so forth. Multiple GCMs may manage transfers for external clients, and shared logs may be maintained to permit flexibility in management by the GCMs.

In particular, the system includes a configuration for a first object profile that is associated with a first object, wherein the first object profile comprises a set of attributes having a first set of valuations. The system includes a configuration for a second object profile that is associated with a second object, wherein the second object profile comprises said set of attributes having a second set of valuations. The system includes a profile updater for managing the first object profile and the second object profile, wherein in a transaction involving the first and second objects, corresponding object profiles are updated based on valuations in the first and second set of valuations.

Abstract: A method for recommending videos is presented. The method includes generating a cross-usage matrix based upon a data of video sessions for a plurality of videos, generating a temporal matrix based upon release dates of the plurality of videos, generating a cross-temporal matrix based upon the cross-usage matrix and the temporal matrix, computing a global video rank corresponding to each of the plurality of videos based upon the cross-temporal matrix, generating a similarity score corresponding to each pair of videos in the plurality of videos based upon meta-data of the plurality of videos, and generating a local video rank corresponding to each of the plurality of videos relative to another video in the plurality of videos based upon the generated cross-usage matrix, the computed global video rank and the generated similarity score.

The primary digital content is identified, and the supplementary digital content is selected and transmitted, with an indication of timing for play of the supplementary digital content based upon the sample time. Synchronization of the primary and supplementary digital content playback is based upon reference to the sample time.

The method includes, accessing a universal digital fingerprint associated with an item of content, wherein the fingerprint is invariant across one or more formats of the item of content. The method includes accessing an identification value by the processor. The method includes generating a digital token by cryptographically binding the digital fingerprint and the identification value, wherein the digital token is invariant across the one or more formats of the item of content. The method further includes associating the digital token with at least one right to the item of content.

Abstract: A digital file is associated with a security attribute related to watermarking criteria. The digital file content is encrypted, and may not be decrypted by a receiving computer unless the watermarking criteria is met. The receiving computer may decrypt only the encrypted portion of the security attribute unless the watermarking criteria are continuously met at the receiving computer. Improved security and reduction of pirating of the digital content is therefore provided.

Abstract: Compact event code messages are generated by sources, which may include human users, system components or any other sources. The event code messages include an event type, a source type, and a date. The messages are initially processed based on this information. The messages also include payload data that is not considered during initial processing, rendering initial processing fast and efficient. The messages may then be listed or queued and further processed by specialize event handlers, which may consider the payload data and may draw upon other resources. The system components, including the event handlers may be increased or decreased as needed and dynamically as messages are received and processed. New events, rules for event processing, event handlers and other system components may be added at any time to expend the number and types of events that can be handled, and the particular handling performed on them.

Abstract: Subject viewpoint data and external viewpoint data are collected, such as via cameras, and separate virtual or synthetic video views are generated, one from the subject viewpoint and one from an external viewpoint. The subject video view is presented to the subject, such as via a headset, while the external video view is presented to at least one other person. At least the subject video view is presented sufficiently close in time to permit the subject to react to it. A model is referenced so the video views may include a virtual or synthetic setting, or at least partial replacement of the subject with a character, or both.

Abstract: A system for generating web analytic reports includes a client interface unit configured to receive one or more predefined tagging conditions from a client for generating a set of tagging rules based on the one or more predefined tagging conditions. The system also includes a tag generation unit configured to generate a client tagged data based on the set of tagging rules. The system also includes an output interface unit configured to generate web analytic reports via analyzing the client tagged data based on the set of tagging rules.
