Abstract: A modular battery assembly includes at least a first battery pack and a second battery pack. Each battery pack includes a container at least partially enclosing a first plurality of electrical storage devices, an attachment mechanism configured to removably attach the first container to a chassis of a vehicle, a mechanical connector, and an electrical connector configured to connect the plurality of electrical storage devices to a control section of the vehicle. The battery pack containers are configured to be removably attached to each other by connection of the mechanical connectors.
Abstract: A management system of a vehicle battery replacement system has a plurality of battery replacement stations for replacing a depleted battery pack of an electric vehicle with a charged battery pack. Each battery replacement station includes a coordinating device. The management system also has a control system in communication with the coordinating devices of the battery replacement stations and a plurality of client devices. The control system is configured to receive a request for a battery replacement operation from a client device, and select a battery replacement station of the plurality of battery replacement stations for performing the battery replacement operation.
Abstract: A battery for a vehicle having a fixed battery pack and a replaceable battery pack. The replaceable battery pack has electronic or mechanical locks to semi-temporarily hold the replaceable battery pack in place. The fixed battery pack is held in place via permanent or semi-permanent fasteners such as bolts. A battery controller controls the replaceable battery pack to power motors of the vehicle before controlling the fixed battery pack to power motors of the vehicle.
