  • Patent number: 4646609
Abstract: A data input apparatus comprises an operation panel; a plurality of input keys arranged on the operation panel; and a fine adjusting bar arranged on the operation panel; and a data generator coupled to the input keys and to the fine adjusting bar. Each of the input keys designates a coarse selection of an input instruction, respectively, from among a plurality of input instructions such as musical note pitches and durations. The fine adjusting bar designates a fine adjustment for and in common to the respective selected input instructions designated by the input keys. The data generator generates data bearing information formed by the selected input instruction and the fine adjustment. Thus the data input apparatus composes musical performance data for automatic performance by musical tones with adjusted note pitches, note durations, and other note characters.

  • Patent number: 4646612
Abstract: In a musical tone signal generating apparatus of a harmonic combination system, the coefficient values of a continuous harmonic to be formed are discretely sampled. Among the sampled values, the values between each two adjacent sampling points (i.e., each two adjacent frames) which vary are selected, and only difference coefficient data therebetween are stored in a memory. When the harmonic coefficient data is to be formed, the difference coefficient data is used for the coefficient varying values between each two adjacent sampling points, and a new coefficient value is calculated. However, as for the nonvarying values between each two adjacent sampling points, no calculation is performed and an already calculated coefficient value is used, thereby updating harmonic coefficients as a function of time, and hence generating a musical tone signal whose tone color is changed as a function of time.

  • Patent number: 4646303
Abstract: In a digital system, there is provided a circuit for detecting and correcting errors in a group of data using Reed-Solomon codes. The group of data is first stored in a memory, and syndromes of the data are produced by a syndrome calculation circuit and fed to an internal data bus. A first data conversion circuit converts the syndromes on the internal data bus into logarithmic values and a multiplier-divider circuit executes multiplication or division of the data on the internal data bus by addition and subtraction operations of the logarithmic values. A second data conversion circuit converts antilogarithmically data from the multiplier-divider circuit, and an addition and subtraction circuit executes addition or subtraction of the data from the second data conversion circuit.

  • Patent number: 4646285
Abstract: A shutter plate control device in a disc playback device energizes a shutter plate in a disc magazine case with opening and closing members provided in a main body of the disc playback device. The opening member engages with a shutter lever provided on the shutter plate in loading of the disc magazine case to move the shutter plate in a direction for opening an aperture formed in the disc magazine case for exposing the disc to a pickup head to enable the pickup head to read date recorded on the disc. The closing member engages with the shutter lever in loading of the disc magazine case to be displaced by the shutter lever and thereby permit the shutter lever to pass by without moving the shutter plate while it engages with the shutter lever in ejecting of the disc magazine case to move the shutter plate in a direction for closing the aperture.

  • Patent number: 4644839
Abstract: The generating function cos[Z(t).multidot.sin(.omega.'t)] of Bessel functions is utilized as a modulating function for a fundamental function sin(.omega.t) in synthesis of a musical tone including many harmonic (over tone) components, wherein Z(t) is used as a modulating index. The modulating frequency .omega.' in sin(.omega.'t) of the modulating function cos[Z(t).multidot.sin(.omega.'t)] is selected relative to the fundamental frequency so that w'=n.omega. wherein n is a half integer or an irrational number.

  • Patent number: 4643066
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument capable of producing, by frequency modulation, a musical tone containing harmonic components of integer and non-integer orders at complicated ratios which change with time. In frequency modulation, amplitudes of carrier and side frequencies are preceded by a positive or negative sign depending upon a value of modulation index. By suitably setting the value of modulation index, phase inversion occurs in the side frequencies so that cancellation or augmentation of amplitude will occur between side frequencies of the same frequency. By utilizing this phenomenon and also the fact that the harmonic spectrum can be varied by varying the carrier and the modulating waves, the electronic musical instrument according to the invention produces a musical tone containing extremely complex harmonic components.

  • Patent number: 4641564
Abstract: A musical tone producing device of a waveform readout type has a reference waveform memory and a difference waveform memory. The reference waveform memory stores a reference waveform which is similar commonly to each of divided waveforms belonging to a plurality of blocks into which a musical tone waveform of a musical tone to be produced is divided. The difference waveform memory stores difference waveforms, each of which is a difference between the reference waveform and each of divided waveforms. The reproduction of the musical tone waveform is accomplished by reading out the reference waveform and the difference waveforms successively and by successively adding the read out reference waveform and the difference waveforms. This musical tone waveform synthesis according to utilization of difference waveforms contributes to the reduction of memory size.

  • Patent number: 4641326
Abstract: There is provided a counter circuit operable in synchronism with a frame of a digital data signal of a digital audio system even if a frame synchronization signal is not detected. The counter circuit comprises a detection circuit for detecting the frame synchronization signal of the digital data signal to produce a frame synchronization detection signal. A series of counters repeatedly count clock pulses reproduced from the digital data signal to produce a count signal when the count of the series of counters reaches a value corresponding to the number of channel bits includes in one (1) frame of the digital data signal. A reproduction frame sychronization signal is generated in response to the frame synchronization signal when the count of the series of counters is within a predetermined range, the reproduction frame synchronization signal resetting the counters.

  • Patent number: 4635520
Abstract: Two waveshapes corresponding to an attack portion and a part of portion succeeding the attack portion of a tone to be produced are stored in a waveshape memory. The waveshape of the attack portion is read out once and thereafter the other waveshape is repetitively read out. In order to connect smoothly the repetitively read out waveshape, an interpolation operation is performed in specified sections at the end and at the beginning of the waveshape. A tone waveshape to be finally formed is constituted by the other waveshape itself in other section than the specified sections and by a new waveshape formed by the interpolation operation in the specified sections in the other waveshape, thereby realizing the smooth connection of the repetitive read out waveshapes.

  • Patent number: 4633749
Abstract: A musical tone signal generator for an electronic musical instrument is constructed by a waveshape generator, a function generator and an interpolator. The waveshape generator successively generates adjacent two waveshapes of a plurality of different waveshapes which have been intermittently sampled in an actual produced tone. The function generator generates an interpolation function which is a function of time. The interpolator weights the adjacent two waveshapes in accordance with the interpolation function, combines the weighted two waveshapes and outputs the combined waveshape as a musical tone waveshape to be produced at a rate corresponding to a frequency of the musical tone waveshape. In the waveshape generator, the generation of next two adjacent waveshapes are performed when a value of the interpolation function has become equal to a predetermined value. As a result, it is made possible to obtain a good quality timewise spectrum change of the musical tone waveshape.

  • Patent number: 4632001
Abstract: A tone generation circuit can generate digital tone signals in a plurality of channels on a time shared basis and these digital tone signals are supplied to a digital-to-analog converter provided commonly for the respective channels. The digital-to-analog converter converts the digital tone signals of the respective channels into analog signals individually for each of the channels in the time division multiplexed state. Analog memory circuits are provided for the respective channels for demultiplexing and individually holding the time division multiplexed analog tone signals supplied from the digital-to-analog converter. The analog tone signals held in the respective analog memory circuits are individually read out in synchronism with pitches of notes assigned to the respective channels.
