    Abstract: A hydrogel which has a water content of 20 to 92 weight % and which is stable and superior in mechanical properties is obtained by preparing a 3 to 25 weight % aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of hydrolysis not less than 95 mol % and a viscosity-average polymerization degree of not less than 1,500, then pouring the aqueous polyvinyl alcohol solution into a desired shape of a vessel or a mold, then freeze-molding the aqueous polyvinyl alcohol solution at a temperature lower than -6.degree. C., thereafter dehydrating the molded article without thawing it until the dehydration percentage reaches 5 weight % or more and, if required, immersing the dehydrated product in water.

    Abstract: Electric heating means is arranged in the bottom portion of one case body, and an air bath tank and a sample heating tank, communicating with each other, are formed within this case body. The temperature of air in the air bath tank is maintained at a predetermined level by a temperature detecting element and a temperature controlling device. A filter paper is held in the air bath tank by supporting means at a position above the heating means spaced by a predetermined distance from the heating means. A heavy oil sample heated at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined time in the sample heating tank is dropped on the filter paper and the filter paper is dried for a predetermined time. The stability of the heavy oil is evaluated based on the state of spreading of the dropped heavy oil on the filter paper.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing immobilized L-asparaginase preparations. Its principal object is to produce immobilized L-asparaginase preparations which are excellent in antithrombogenicity and mechanical strength.The present invention is concerned with production of immobilized L-asparaginase preparations by pouring an aqueous solution containing 6% or more of a polyvinyl alcohol with a degree of hydrolysis of 97 mol. % or higher and a viscosity-average degree of polymerization of 1,800 or more an antileukemic asparaginase into a vessel or a mold of an appropriate shape, subjecting the solution to cooling, solidification and molding at a temperature of -15.degree. C. or lower and partially dehydrating the molded mass without thawing to a dehydration ratio of 5% by weight or more and, if desired, immersing the product in water.According to the invention, L-asparaginase can be embedded in a highly hydrous gel excellent in antithrombogenicity and mechanical strength by simple procedures.

C. or higher per minute in an inert gas atmosphere and heat-treating the precarbonized fiber at the raised temperature of 2,000.degree.-3,000.degree. C. in said inert gas atmosphere.

    Abstract: Provided is a method for vapor phase polymerization of olefins. An olefin gas is fed into a horizontal cylindrical vessel having a lower curved surface corresponding to 30 to 180 degrees of the circumference of the vessel and extending substantially the length of the vessel formed by a perforated plate having a multiplicity of holes spaced at intervals in the range of from 0.5 to 50 mm, through said plate from an olefin feed chamber mounted below and covering the plate. A polymer catalyst is fed into the horizontal cylindrical vessel through a polymerization catalyst inlet port located in a portion of the vessel other than the lower curved surface formed by the perforated plate. The olefin is reacted in the presence of a catalyst with agitation to form polymer. Unreacted olefin is removed through a discharge port located in a portion of the vessel other than the lower curved surface formed by the perforated plate.
