Abstract: Provided are: a composition containing 96-99 area % of eicosapentaenoic acid alkyl ester, the composition having an arachidonic acid alkyl ester content of 0.7 area % or less, and an eicosapentaenoic-acid-alkyl-ester mono-trans isomer content of 2.5 area % or less; and a method for producing a composition containing a high concentration of eicosapentaenoic acid alkyl ester, the method including performing precision distillation on a composition containing eicosapentaenoic acid alkyl ester, obtained by alkyl esterification of a raw material oil containing eicosapentaenoic acid, under a vacuum of 0.2 Torr or lower and a temperature of 190° C. or lower in the entire column, and performing a concentration treatment on the precision-distilled composition using chromatography.
Abstract: [Problem] To provide a composition for external skin use that has anti-inflammatory and antiallergic activity, and is very safe. [Solution] A composition for external skin use for inflammatory diseases contains dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA) as the active ingredient thereof. It is preferable for the DGLA to be present as a glyceride, a phospholipid, or an alkyl ester. The amount of DGLA contained in the composition for external use is 0.1-50 wt %.

Abstract: A highly unsaturated fatty acid or a highly unsaturated fatty acid ethyl ester that has been produced using as a feedstock oil a fat or oil that contains highly unsaturated fatty acids as constituent fatty acids and which has been reduced in the contents of environmental pollutants, wherein among the dioxins contained, polychlorinated dibenzoparadioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) are contained in amounts of less than 0.05 pg-TEQ/g and coplanar PCBs (Co-PCBs) in amounts of less than 0.03 pg-TEQ/g. Also disclosed is a method for producing the highly unsaturated fatty acid or highly unsaturated fatty acid ethyl ester by the steps of removing free fatty acids and environmental pollutants by thin-film distillation from a feedstock oil, ethyl esterifying the resulting fat or oil, and refining the same by rectification and column chromatography.

Abstract: A microbial oil is obtained from Labyrinthulomycetes in which a gene for fatty acid biosynthesis has been disrupted or an expression of the gene has been inhibited to highly accumulate the fatty acid. The microbial oil typically contains: (a) 1.5% or more of arachidonic acid (AA) based on a total amount of fatty acid; (b) 0.2% or more of dihomo-?-linolenic acid (DGLA) based on the total amount of fatty acid; (c) 0.04% or more of eicosatetraenoic acid (ETA) based on the total amount of fatty acid; (d) 3.8% or more of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) based on the total amount of fatty acid; (e) 13.7% or less of n-6 docosapentaenoic acid (n-6DPA) based on the total amount of fatty acid; and (f) 43.9% or less of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) based on the total amount of fatty acid.

Abstract: This invention provides a feed for fish farming which is excellent in terms of stability of feed supply and feed shelf life and which has excellent feed intake and feed efficiency. The feed for fish farming has an outer layer and an inner layer, characterized in that a composition constituting the outer layer has a breaking stress of 5×104 to 1×106 N/m2, a cohesiveness (30%) of 0.4 to 1.0, and a breaking strain of 30 to 80%. The feed for fish farming is characterized by having an outer layer constructed from a heat-induced gel which comprises a protein and/or a starch, and an inner layer comprising a composition which contains nutrient ingredients having fish meal and an oil as essential ingredients.
Abstract: Provided are a method of maintaining the ovaries of marine fish, and a method of obtaining fertilized egg. Provided is a method of maintaining ovaries in which the ovaries are removed from marine fish and the ovaries or fragmented ovaries are cultured in a culture solution. Also, provided is a method of obtaining fertilized eggs of marine fish, the method including allowing ovaries, which have been maintained after removal to ovulate and performing artificial insemination. Further, the present invention relates to a method of maintaining the fertilization capability of ovulated eggs of marine fish by using the culture solution. According to the present invention, fertilized eggs of marine fish can be easily obtained and seed can be efficiently produced.
