  • Patent number: 4961042
Abstract: A device for controlling an AC motor for a fork lift truck comprises a detector to detect direction of rotation of an AC motor. The direction of rotation thus detected is compared with a desired direction of rotation of the AC motor, and the AC motor is controlled such that the AC motor operates in a power running mode when the actual direction of rotation of the AC motor is equal to the desired direction of rotation of the AC motor, but it operates in regenerative braking mode when said actual direction of rotation of the AC motor fails to be equal to the desired direction of rotation of the AC motor. The desired direction of rotation of the AC motor may be set manually by an operator or a driver of a vehicle drien by the AC motor.

  • Patent number: 4957087
Abstract: An apparatus for use in an internal combustion engine operable on either of gasoline fuel and gasoline-alcohol fuel blend. The apparatus includes an alcohol concentration sensor for sensing the alcohol concentration of the fuel to be delivered to the engine, and an oxygen sensor sensitive to the oxygen content in exhaust gases discharged from the engine for producing an air/fuel ratio feedback signal. A difference of the air/fuel ratio from the stoichiometric value is calculated based on the air/fuel ratio feedback signal for a closed loop air/fuel ratio control. A correction factor is used to correct the amount of fuel delivered to the engine so as to provide fuel enrichment during high engine load conditions. In the event of failure of the alcohol concentration sensor, the amount of fuel delivered to the engine is determined with the alcohol concentration being set at a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4899710
Abstract: A system and method for detecting and determining knocking in an internal combustion engine in which various kinds of signals (engine vibrations, engine revolution speed, opening angle of a throttle valve, crank angle, ignition crank angle, and so on) are weighted by means of weight vectors so as to form a knocking decision signal. The knocking decision signal is compared with a reference signal so as to determine whether the knocking is occuring. The correctness or incorrectness of the determination result is determined on the basis of a highly accurate knocking detecting information provided by means of an external test device. The weight vectors are corrected in a direction in which the percentage of correct answers increases under the various engine operating conditions. The weight vectors thus corrected and learned are used to carry out highly accurate knocking detection under varying engine operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 4845618
Abstract: A hydraulic pressure control system for reducing engagement shock of a frictional element when the transmission effects a change in gear position comprises an electromagnetically operated valve for generating a hydraulic pressure supplied to the frictional element and a control unit. In the control unit, the amount of torque transmitted via a torque converter to a transmission input shaft is determined through operations based on output signals of various sensors and data stored in a memory, and a target value of hydraulic pressure is determined in response to the amount of torque determined. The control unit supplies an output signal to the valve to cause the valve to adjust the level of the hydraulic pressure generated thereby to the target value.

  • Patent number: 4835696
Abstract: A system and method for automatically controlling a vehicle speed to a desired cruising speed in which a transfer point at which control of the vehicle speed is transferred from that carried out by returning the vehicle speed to the cruising speed set through an operation of a set switch at a controllable acceleration in the vehicle speed to that carried out by controlling the vehicle speed so that the vehicle speed coincides with the set cruising speed is determined on the basis of a sum of an acceleration value multiplied by a constant and speed difference from the actual vehicle speed to set cruising speed. Consequently, an overshooting of the vehicle speed does not occur when the vehicle speed is returned toward and finally settles at the set cruising speed.

  • Patent number: 4835407
Abstract: An automotive antitheft key arrangement for locking and unlocking an automotive vehicular door and for operating an ignition system includes a transmitter, first and second receiving means for receiving an input code signal sent from the transmitter unit, and a discriminator including a comparator which compares the input code signal received by the first or second receiving means with a present code signal. The discriminator produces a first or second comparator output when these signals match each other. In response to the first or second comparator output, electrical power is applied to a door lock mechanism for locking and unlocking the door or a starter motor for causing the engine starting operation. The door lock system further includes means for preventing either the first or second comparator output from being produced in response to turn ON or OFF of a starting switch so that the first comparator output is not produced when the second comparator output is produced, and vice versa.
