  • Patent number: 7133421
Abstract: A method and an equipment implementing the method that allow a logical channel, to which a received burst relates, to be identified with certainty also in demanding operational circumstances. A logical channel relating to a time slot is identified by applying channel decoding. The identification can be a primary identification or a confirming identification taking place after a primary identifier the time slot comprises, preferably a bit map, has been interpreted. If identification based on channel decoding contradicts identification based on the bit map, a receiver can be arranged to indicate logical channel information on the basis of the channel decoding, for instance by changing the bit map, when selected criteria are met, to a bit map conforming to the logical channel identified on the basis of the channel decoding.

  • Patent number: 7120115
Abstract: The invention is related to radio resource usage in cellular telecommunication systems, more accurately to admission control methods used in establishing of new connections. In a method according to the invention, a bearer request is checked with two different tests before it is admitted or rejected. A test of a first kind is used for overall control, i.e. all bearers are treated in a roughly similar way. A test of a second kind is used for controlling bearers, which present a high load to the network. A bearer request must then pass a combination of a test of the first kind and a test of the second kind in order to be admitted. A two-part test according to the invention is able to efficiently handle both even and skewed traffic.

  • Patent number: 7113476
Abstract: The invention relates to an interference cancellation method and a receiver including interference canceller for suppressing a narrow-band interference signal from a received signal, converter for performing an orthonormal conversion of the signal into subspace components of a desired subspace, a decoder connected operationally to the output of the interference canceller, in which decoder an estimate for the received signal is obtained. The output of the decoder is operationally connected to the interference canceller, and the converter is arranged to determine an estimate for narrow-band interference properties, in which determination the estimate obtained from the output of the decoder is subtracted from the received signal before the orthonormal conversion is performed. By using the determined estimate, the interference canceller is arranged to reduce effect of the subspace components including narrow-band interference signals from the received signal.

  • Patent number: 7106694
Abstract: The invention concerns the control of connections in cellular telecommunication systems. According to the invention, the available radio resources are controlled by allowing only certain conbinations of transport formats to be used by a single user. The inventive method restricts the combinations of bearer bit rates which can be used, without strictly limiting some bearers from using highest bit rates. This inventive approach allows flexible overall control of radio resources, while retaining the possibility of bearers to select between different bit rates.

  • Patent number: 7103363
Abstract: For control of connections in cellular telecommunication systems, particularly setting up and releasing of connections, it is checked whether a radio resource control (RRC) connection is already active during setting up of anew mobility management (MM) connection. If an RRC connection is already active, explicit signaling is used. Otherwise, RRC level events can be used to implicitly control MM level events. During releasing of MM connections, it is checked if another MM protocol uses RRC connections, and if that is the case, the releasing of MM connections is signaled explicitly.

  • Patent number: 7095838
Abstract: This invention presents a service of barring the forwarded calls. According to the invention, a subscriber may define in his subscriber information that all calls forwarded to him are to be rejected. In response to receiving a request for establishing a call to a subscriber, his subscriber information is checked to find out if he has defined that calls forwarded to him are to be rejected. If the subscriber information shows that the subscriber wishes to reject the forwarded incoming calls, the call establishment signaling is studied to find out if the call has been forwarded. If the call is determined to have been forwarded, the call is rejected. In a preferred embodiment the subscriber may define a set of allowed numbers from which even the forwarded calls are to be accepted.

  • Patent number: 7096031
Abstract: A mobile communication system includes a mobile services switching center, a base station and a transcoder. The transcoder receives frames containing speech parameters from the base station and receives speech signals from the mobile services switching center which it encodes into speech parameters to be transmitted to the base station in the frames. To enable the cooperation between the transcoder and the base station to be controlled as simply as possible, the mobile communication system includes a controller for transmitting predetermined control information to the base station, whereby the base station is arranged to control the operation of the transcoder via the telecommunication connection in response to the reception of the control information.

  • Patent number: 7076788
Abstract: A method for describing software architecture utilizes a service concept to provide a map of the software system's features from top-level functionalities to actual code through all intermediate abstractions. The services are defined as logical and physical services. Physical services are bound to a given level of abstraction by the actual implementation, whereas logical services can be hierarchically divided into smaller logical services. A suitable abstraction level can be used for the logical services so that the best match between physical and logical services can be achieved. Linking physical services to logical services is done so that the set of physical services that implement a set of logical services can be found in a top-down fashion. Also the set of logical services that is implemented by a set of physical services can be found in the bottom-up fashion. The logical service structure can be used as a reference software architecture.

  • Patent number: 7050439
Abstract: A method for performing discontinuous transmission in an asynchronous transfer mode is described, wherein a downlink transmission of an ATM cell is performed each time a predetermined number of signal frames indicating a speechless period has been supplied, and wherein an uplink transmission of an ATM cell is only performed when a signal frame indicating a useful information has been supplied. In the downlink transmission, an idle frame can be generated at the receiving end, when no ATM cell is received. In the uplink transmission, a signal frame indicating a useless information can be generated, when no ATM cell is received. Thereby, only those signal frames required at the receiving end are transmitted. Moreover, known transmission functions and elements of a synchronous transmission system can be used at the respective ends of transmission.
