  • Patent number: 8755368
Abstract: In a method for providing a service between a service unit and terminal devices of at least one communication network, a synchronization unit evaluates the service provided by a service unit with respect to at least one technical requirement for use by at least one terminal device, establishes at least one rule for exchanging data of the service in accordance with the evaluation result, and stores the evaluation result. The synchronization unit forwards information regarding a registration for a service to at least one network unit of at least one communication network, with which a user of the terminal devices is registered. Upon inquiry by a terminal device for provision of the service through the service unit the synchronization unit exchanges the data via the synchronization unit in accordance with at least one established rule that depends on the technical requirements of the inquiring terminal device.

  • Patent number: 8756624
Abstract: When the set-top box (STB) has been switched on, registration and authentication with the provider (IDP) are carried out (1, 2, 3). Following successful authentication, a piece of authentication information is then sent (4) to the set-top box (STB), which the set-top box (STB) sends (5) to a service provider (SP1) for registration. The service provider (SP1) then sets up (6) a connection to the provider (IDP) of the registration and authentication function in order to verify the authentication information and to request guidelines for charging, and the provider (IDP) of the registration and authentication function sends (7) confirmation to the service provider.

  • Patent number: 8737365
Abstract: A method of allocating uplink radio resources to a mobile device, in which uplink and downlink timeslots are allocated, and the sum of the allocated uplink timeslots and the allocated downlink timeslots within a predetermined period is less than the total number of assigned time slots and does not exceed a predetermined maximum. The resources are allocated in a reduced transmission time interval configuration, in which an indication of the uplink timeslot allocation is received from the network in a downlink timeslot, or downlink timeslot pair, directing the mobile device to transmit only in one uplink timeslot pair.

  • Patent number: 8717980
Abstract: A mobile station operating in EGPRS mode needs to the early establishment of an uplink TBF although has not data to send, at the only precautionary purpose of preventing an intolerable latency negatively affecting the subsequent delay-sensitive transmissions. To this aim, the mobile sends a Packet Channel Request message in one phase access mode including a new establishment cause called “Early TBF establishment”. The network establishes an uplink TBF indicating the requester and assigns a radio resource on one PDCH channel or more. Then the network schedules the transmission from the mobile station also when it does not have data to transmit other than dummy packets. This is performed through the USF flags in the usual manner. As soon as actual data become available for transmission, the mobile send them instead of dummy packets. In an alternative embodiment the mobile sends the Packet Channel Request message in two phase access mode.

  • Publication number: 20140115415
Abstract: A decoding method for decoding information content in at least one data packet, which is transmitted from a sender to a receiver via a data link. The information is represented by a bit sequence, which is transformed into a transmittable redundancy version. The information is initially transmitted for a first time in a first data packet from the sender to the receiver. The information is represented by a first redundancy version, which is self-decodable. An incorrect receipt is confirmed by sending a confirmation from the receiver to the sender. The information is retransmitted at least a second time in a second data packet from the sender to the receiver upon receipt of the confirmation, wherein, for representation of the information, a second redundancy version is used, the selection of which is performed in dependence on a coding parameter, describing whether the redundancy version is self-decodable or not.

  • Patent number: 8706891
Abstract: A communication network (PKN) fashioned in conformance with at least one transmission protocol is configured such that data packets (BPDU) having first address information (08 address) as protocol-specific address information are processed under the at least one transmission protocol. At least one communication device (PB) is assigned to the communication network (PKN), which communication device is fashioned in such a manner that second address information (00 address) is configured as protocol-specific address information and that data packets (BPDU) having the second address information (00 address) are processed under the at least one transmission protocol. According to the invention, in the case of data packets (PB) incoming at the communication device (PB) and containing first address information (08 address), this is replaced by the second address information (00 address) and the converted data packets (BPDU?) are processed further by the communication device (PB).

  • Patent number: 8681738
Abstract: In a wireless communication system, signals within a connection on a wireless interface are transmitted exclusively in a packet-switched manner between a user station and an access device located on the network. The user station signals a need to measure signals to the access device, the access device sends measurement signaling to the user station, and the user station measures signals of at least one additional access device located on the network at a second frequency range while receiving data packets within the connection at a first frequency range based on the received measurement signaling, the second frequency range being disjunct from the first frequency range.

  • Patent number: 8644707
Abstract: The invention relates to a bidirectional optical amplifier array (VA) which is preferably used in a passive optical network (PON) system, is disposed between a first line termination (OLT) and a second line termination (ONU), and is penetrated by an optical downstream signal (OSD) in one direction and an optical upstream signal (OSD) in the opposite direction. Said optical amplifier array is composed of a first part with two branching and combining units (D1 and D2), a unidirectional optical amplifier (E1), and a transponder (T) in which the optical downstream signals and upstream signals (OSU and OSD) are separately amplified. The two signals (OSU and OSD) that run in opposite directions are amplified in a bidirectional amplifier (E2) in a second part. A constant gain is maintained in the bidirectional optical amplifier (E2) by means of the continuous downstream signal (OSD) such that the amplifier can be operated in stable conditions for the upstream signal (OSU) regardless of occurring bursts.

  • Patent number: 8619625
Abstract: An autonomous network has a plurality of autonomous terminals, equipped with at least one programmable transceiver, and which are embodied to independently identify frequency ranges provided for a communication link and used to reconfigure the programmable transceiver thereof. One or more technical system states of the network, with which a specific operation of the network is described, is defined.
