Patent number: 4645395Abstract: The invention concerns a nut provided with a locking element (4, 5, 6, 7), which by e.g. a screw (8, 9, 10, 11) can be urged radially against a screw thread. In order to provide a self-contained and easily releasable nut the locking element is arranged in a recess which, together with the element, is so arranged that at least a part (12, 13, 14, 15) of the element is deformed elastically when the element is moved against the screw thread. Thereby the element springs out of contact with the thread when the screw (8, 9, 10, 11) is released.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1984Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: SKF Nova ABInventor: Bengt Lundgren

Patent number: 4645047Abstract: In a freewheel mechanism with a number of blocking members arranged between raceways on two elements, one raceway is arranged on a body which is co-operating with one of the elements and is turnable thereon. The circumference of the body is variable for varying the distance between the raceways. The variations can take place because the body is elastically deformable radially and by tightening and releasing a threaded portion between the body and the element, the thread flanks thereby acting as wedges. The purpose of the arrangement is to avoid jamming of the freewheel by the blocking members upon reversal of the direction of rotation when the blocking members are in blocking position. The unwanted torque developed during jamming of the freewheel releases the tightened thread joint between the body and the element, whereby the circumference of the body and the distance between the raceways of the freewheel is increased so that the blocking members are released.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: SKF Nova ABInventor: Rune Adolfsson

Patent number: 4613793Abstract: A thin-film electroluminescent panel which has a light sink layer deposited immediately behind the phosphor layer thereof is modified to have a light emission enhancing dielectric layer deposited between the phosphor layer and the light sink layer. The light emission enhancing dielectricphosphor interface provides for injecting hot electrons for impact-exciting the luminescent centers in the phosphor to enable the panel to generate light when the front electrode of the panel is positive in potential. Moreover, the light emission enhancing dielectric layer is formed of a material having the same index of refraction as the phosphor layer so that it will pass the incident ambient light and the rearwardly directed light generated in the phosphor layer without reflection into the light sink layer wherein it is trapped by internal reflection and absorbed.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1984Date of Patent: September 23, 1986Assignee: Sigmatron Nova, Inc.Inventors: Ramachandra M. Patent number: 4602189Abstract: A thin-film electroluminescent (EL) panel operating as a matrix-addressed display is provided with a light sink layer immediately behind the phosphor layer thereof to enhance the legibility of the display under high ambient light conditions. The light sink layer is formed of a p-type semiconductor compound material comprised of 20% lead telluride and 80% cadmium telluride doped with indium. The addition of the indium into the material introduces free electrons which compensate for the hole carriers therein and thereby increases the specific resistivity of the material. The addition of lead into the semiconductor compound material forms the lead telluride which in combination with the cadmium telluride reduces the energy band gap of the material to effectively absorb the ambient light in the visible range which is the source of the bad legibility. Moreover, the lead serves to reduce the mobility of the free charge carriers in the material and thereby further increases the specific resistivity of the material.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1983Date of Patent: July 22, 1986Assignee: Sigmatron Nova, Inc.Inventor: Ramachandra M. P. Panicker

Patent number: 4596477Abstract: A device for fastening e.g. a bearing ring on a shaft comprises a clamping sleeve and a clamping member co-operating with the sleeve. The clamping member and the sleeve contact each other over wedge-shaped surfaces. The sleeve surfaces intended for contacting the bearing ring and the clamping member have such shape that the clamping force acts essentially on that part of the sleeve which co-operates with the clamping member, and no appreciable axial displacement takes place between the sleeve and the bearing ring. Thereby the bearing ring keeps its shape and position during mounting.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1985Date of Patent: June 24, 1986Assignee: SKF Nova ABInventor: Bengt Lundgren
