  • Patent number: 4838177
Abstract: A work station suitable for mounting electrical and/or communication equipment including a straight, elongate hollow support beam of rectangular cross-section. Hollow support legs mount the beam in a horizontal position above a floor. Support brackets are detachably connected to one or both sides of the beam and these brackets include vertical leg portions that are bolted to the side of the beam and further arm portions that extend outwardly and upwardly. Rigid work surfaces are mounted on outer sections of the outwardly and upwardly extending arm portions. The work surfaces are positioned horizontally away from and above the top of the support beam. A housing can be provided to mount display and key pad equipment on the beam side of the work surface so that a lower portion of the display and key pad equipment is positioned below a horizontal plane defined by the top of the work surface.

  • Patent number: 4820158
Abstract: A denture can be coupled to a sleeve-like socket of a tooth crown by a dentent member a first portion of which is anchored in the denture and a sleeve-like second portion of which is receivable in the socket. The second portion has an open end which is remote from the first portion, a conical internal surface which diverges in a direction toward the open end and a conical external surface which diverges in a direction away from the open end. The detent member is made of a tough and wear-resistant plastic material, such as a fiber-reinforced polyamide or polycarbonate. The shank of a screw is driven into a tapped bore of the first portion of the detent member and the head of the screw has a conical outer surface which can expand the second portion of the detent member in response to rotation of the screw so that the head is driven into the second portion by way of the open end.

  • Patent number: 4806019
Abstract: Method and apparatus is disclosed for mixing two or more materials normally considered difficult to evenly and homogeneously intermix such as, for example, viscous fluids. The apparatus is also effectively usable to entrain a gas in a liquid and for ceramic particle formation. The mixing portion of the apparatus includes a mixing chamber in the form of a narrow gap between two walls movable relative to one another. The mixing chamber has individual inlets thereto at one end thereof for individually introducing the different elements to be mixed therein and an outlet at the opposite end for discharge therefrom of the mixed elements. The mixing chamber is preferably an annular chamber in the form of a truncated cone and defined by spaced apart walls, one of which is movable relative to the other by rotation. The distance between the walls defining the mixing chamber is preferably selectively adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4804354
Abstract: The invention relates to a driving wheel for car engines or the like, incorporating a gear wheel, which is intended to cooperate with a cogged belt, and a pulley attached to one side of the gear wheel and arrested to this. The gear wheel molded from a plastic or similar material having a coefficient of thermal expansion higher than steel's coefficient of thermal expansion and by having a helix of steel or another material with a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to or identical with that of steel embedded in the gear of the wheel radially inside the cogs, whereby the helix has such strength and dimension that it determines the thermal expansion properties of the gear rim.

  • Patent number: 4801613
Abstract: The substitution of the L-Pro at the 7-position of the peptide hormone bradykinin or other substituted analogs of bradykinin with an aromatic amino acid or the D-configuration converts bradykinin agonists into a bradykinin antagonist. The invention further includes additional modifications at other positions within the novel 7-position modified bradykinin antagonists which increase enzyme resistance, antagonist potency and/or specificity of the new bradykinin antagonists. The analogs produced are useful in treating conditions and diseases of the mammal and human body in which an excess of bradykinin or related kinins are produced or injected as by bites into the body.
