  • Patent number: 4565464
Abstract: An element intended for connection to a shaft arranged in a bore in the element comprises two elastically deformable portions created by providing slots perpendicular and parallel to the axis of the bore, respectively. The portions each comprise a part of the wall of the bore and are arranged symmetrically with respect to the bore. Screws are used for deforming the portions so that a shaft situated in the bore is clamped to the element.

  • Patent number: 4563832
Abstract: A bait container, particularly useful with crustacean (lobster or crab) traps is formed with an apertured side wall in which the apertures comprise at least 35% of the surface area of the side wall. The apertures for any container are usually uniform in size and the range of aperture size is from about 250 to about 1000 microns. The size and distribution of the apertures prolongs bait life due to the controlled release of bait from the container and the added protection against unwanted predators such as arthropods. Furthermore the bait container permits the use of emulsified or minced bait produced from previously undesirable material, such as discards and non-edible fish parts taken from the fish processing industry.

  • Patent number: 4559535
Abstract: A plurality of memory sections is provided each storing binary data to be employed for refreshing picture elements of a thin-film EL matrix display panel on successive frame time periods constituting an integration time period. The number of frame time periods in an integration time period corresponds to the number of different shades to be displayed on the panel. The binary data stored in each of the memory sections differs. Thus, when the binary data in the memory sections are read out on successive frame time periods, some of the picture elements on the panel are refreshed more than others during the integration time period. Accordingly, the eye of the viewer receives more light from some picture elements than others during each integration time period which results in the relative brightness levels and, therefore, the shades of the picture elements to vary.

  • Patent number: 4557652
Abstract: A nut which is lockable on a threaded element comprises two annular parts (1, 2) connected by preferably resilient members (5). Locking takes place by tightening a screw (6) arranged in a threaded bore in one nut part and abutting against the other nut part. During tightening of the screw, the parts (1, 2) are displaced and/or skewed in relation to each other whereby locking takes place on the thread.

  • Patent number: 4531427
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus incorporating a planetary gear set with a shaft (7) connected to a planet wheel support (6), and a shaft (8) connected to a sun wheel (5), one of the shafts (8) being connected to a rotor in a device (9) for providing a torque. In order to be able to use the apparatus in a favorable manner in for example a servo assisted system with a steering wheel (10) and a steering member actuated by the steering wheel via a step-up gear, the stator part of the device (9) for providing a torque is connected to the other one of the shafts (7) in the planetary gear so that this shaft takes up the reactive torque which is established in the device during operation.

  • Patent number: 4508760
Abstract: A method and apparatus for microencapsulating an electroluminescent phosphor with an extremely thin coating. The process involves vaporizing a poly-para-xylylene, pyrolyzing the resulting vapors to form reactive monomeric radicals, and then passing such vaporous radicals to a vacuum deposition zone where they contact tumbling particles of an electroluminescent phosphor under vacuum conditions. As the particles are being coated, they are sifted by means of a screen. The reactive monomeric radicals deposit on the tumbling particles, are adsorbed by the particles, and polymerized into a very thin coating on the surfaces of the particles.

  • Patent number: 4489565
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the provision of cooling through the utilization of aerosol sprays is disclosed. The hot water output of a load device is stored until low ambient temperatures exist, whereupon the hot water is atomized and exposed to the ambient air to be cooled thereby. A spray cooling system can also be combined with an artificial ice making system to provide even lower load device input temperatures. Specialized insulating devices can be used in connection with the artificially made ice to decrease the heat transfer between the ice and the ambient air during warm weather.

  • Patent number: 4460289
Abstract: A device for interconnection of two members with cylindrical end portions, comprising a sleeve arranged adjacent both end portions and at least one annular member which by means of axial adjustment along a non-cylindrical section of the sleeve brings about a clamping with a consequent frictional engagement against said cylindrical end portions, whereby forces and torque can be transferred by means of the sleeve interconnecting the members, characterized thereby that the non-cylindrical section of the sleeve consists of a section equipped with threads wherein the profiles of both sides of the thread flanks in longitudinal section define equal angles with the axis of the sleeve, and that said threads cooperate with corresponding threads on two annular members which are arranged in connection to each cylindrical end portion and which are axially displaceable relative to each other and to the sleeve without rotating relative to the sleeve.
