  • Publication number: 20200055969
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for the delivery of a multi-component olefin polymerization catalyst to a polymerization reactor. The components soluble in a first solvent are delivered under pressure along with that solvent in a first delivery conduit. The components that are insoluble in the first solvent but are soluble in a second solvent are delivered under pressure in a second delivery conduit which is arranged coaxially with and disposed within the first conduit, such that the inner conduit and outer conduit terminate at a common catalyst component mixing conduit which extends into the polymerization reactor and in which the catalyst components mix to form an active polymerization catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20200054567
Abstract: The invention provides a drug delivery system in which a drug or another active substance is delivered from the surface of an inactive, placebo carrier. The system uses a placebo tablet carrier having a concavity or multiple concavities in the top surface for receiving a drug. After manufacture of the placebo tablet carrier, a dosage of the drug in liquid or semisolid form is deposited in the concavity and solidifies as a dot or disk on the tablet surface. Thus, the drug is carried on the surface of the tablet and is not part of the tablet bulk. The drug delivery system is particularly useful for delivery of low dose (i.e. potent) drugs, for delivery of multiple doses of a drug, or for delivery of multiple types of drugs. Additionally, the invention provides methods for preparation of the inventive drug delivery systems.

  • Publication number: 20200056025
Abstract: A continuous solution polymerization process is disclosed wherein at least two catalyst formulations are employed. A first homogeneous catalyst formulation is employed in a first reactor to produce a first ethylene interpolymer and a first heterogeneous catalyst formulation is employed in a second reactor to produce a second ethylene interpolymer. Optionally a third ethylene interpolymer is formed in a third reactor. The resulting ethylene interpolymer products possess desirable properties in a variety of end use applications, for example in film applications. A means for increasing the molecular weight of the first ethylene interpolymer is disclosed and/or a means for increasing the temperature of the first reactor, relative to a third homogeneous catalyst formulation. A means for reducing the (?-olefin/ethylene) weight ratio in the first reactor is disclosed and/or reducing the density of the first ethylene interpolymer, relative to a third homogeneous catalyst formulation.

  • Patent number: 10543473
Abstract: In a stirred tank chemical reactor the mean age of the reactor contents affects a number of properties of the product, including for example the homogeneity of the product. The mean average age of the reactor contents can be determined by constructing a transparent model of the reactor and filling it with a fluid containing a fluorescent dye and having flow properties comparable to those of the reactor in use. A light is shone on the fluid as it is stirred under reaction conditions and a clear fluid flow into the model. Pictures are taken of the reactor contents and the mean fluid age of the contents of the model are determined relative to the exit age of the contents. This approach can be applied to determine for example which reactor ports to use, what agitator to use, what flow rates to use to improve reactor function.

  • Patent number: 10538465
Abstract: Oxidative dehydrogenation is an alternative to the energy extensive steam cracking process presently used for the production of olefins from paraffins, but has not been implemented commercially partially due to the unstable nature of hydrocarbon/oxygen mixtures, and partially due to the cost involved in the construction of new facilities. An oxidative dehydrogenation chemical complex designed to reduce costs by including integration of an oxygen separation module that also addresses safety concerns and reduces emission of greenhouse gases is described.
