Abstract: A distributed power supply system and a method for managing such a distributed power supply system is disclosure. The method may include: for each power storage unit i of the plurality of power storage units, determining whether power storage unit i have sufficient status of charge (SOC) based on SOC of the power storage unit i (Ci), and load of the power storage unit i (Li); identifying a set of power storage units that have insufficient SOC; and adjusting output power of the power storage units that have sufficient SOC to provide supplemental power to the set of power storage units that have insufficient SOC.
Abstract: The Application of equations of state to experimental and literature data permits the formation of a model and phase diagram(s) that show under what conditions polyethylene is likely to precipitate out of a high pressure solution of polyethylene in supercritical ethylene. This then permits a better definition to run a high pressure reactor to reduce the likelihood of phase separation, loss of cooling and potentially decomposition of the reactor contents.
Abstract: A fluid dynamic model having at least 5,000,000 cells of the portion of a gas phase reactor from the exit of the condenser to a half a reactor diameter above the bed plate is useful in determining the design of the bottom surface or support structure for a bed plate to minimize liquid pooling below and above the bed plate when operating in condensing mode.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention provide components for a serpentine fluid reactor which is optimized for one or more objective functions of interest such as pressure drop, erosion rate, fouling, coke deposition and operating costs. The components are designed by computer modeling the components individually and collectively in which the cross section of flow path is substantially circular under industrial conditions to validate the model design and its operation. Then iteratively the component designs are deformed and the operation of the deformed part(s) is modeled and compared to values obtained with other deformed models until the value of the objective function is optimized (e.g. at an extreme) or the change in the objective function is approaching zero.

Abstract: A control system and method are provided for use in managing optical measurements on target structures. The control system comprises: data input utility for receiving input data indicative of a size of a target structure to be measured and input data indicative of illumination and collection channels of an optical measurement system; data processing utility for analyzing the input data, and an interplay of Point Spread Functions (PSFs) of the illumination and collection channels, and determining data indicative of optimal tailoring of apertures to be used in the optical measurement system for optimizing ensquared energy for measurements on the given target structure, the optimal tailoring comprising at least one of the following: an optimal ratio between numerical apertures of the illumination and collection channels; and an optimal orientation offset of physical apertures in the illumination and collection channels.
Abstract: A dual reactor solution polymerization process gives high density polyethylene compositions containing a first ethylene copolymer and a second ethylene copolymer and which have high dimensional stability, excellent processability as well as good organoleptic properties and reasonable stress cracking resistance. The polyethylene compositions are suitable for compression molding or injection molding applications and are useful, for example, in the manufacture of caps and closures for bottles, and for example, in bottles containing non-pressurized liquids.
Abstract: The oligomerization of ethylene using a chromium (Cr) catalyst having a phosphorus-nitrogen-phosphorus (P—N—P) ligand is known. Reactor fouling with by-product polyethylene can be severe at operating temperatures of greater than 60° C. However, the activation of such catalysts in a continuous flow reactor at low temperatures can be difficult and activity can be low. We have now discovered that highly active Cr/P—N—P catalysts may be prepared and activated in-situ (i.e. directly in the polymerization reactor) at low temperatures (from about 30 to about 45° C.) by combining the Cr; the P—N—P ligand and an aluminoxane in the process solvent in the presence of hydrogen. The use of hydrogen allows very high productivity (greater than 1×106 grams of ethylene conversion per gram of Cr) at low temperature. We have also observed reactor fouling rates as low as 2 to 10 parts per million of polyethylene per hour (based on total ethylene conversion) using this process.
Abstract: A portable container is provided for handling an implant. The portable container comprises a sealed compartment enclosing a fluid of a pre-defined composition and at least one implant configured to be installed in a live subject. The portable container may further comprise at least one electrode made of an electrical conductive material, electrically associated with an electric conductor outside the sealed compartment and configured for applying a plasma generating electric field inside the sealed compartment. An apparatus for plasma treatment of an implant and having an activation device is further provided. The activation device comprises a slot configured to receive a portable container, and an electrical circuit configured to be electrically associated with at least one electrode.
