Abstract: Shrink film having a desirable balance of properties is manufactured from a polyethylene blend composition having a fractional melt index and a molecular weight distribution of from about 2.5 to about 7. The blend composition comprises a first blend component that is made with a single site catalyst and has a molecular weight of greater than about 140,000 and a first density, d1. The blend composition also contains a second blend component having a lower molecular weight and a second density, d2, that is greater than the density of d1 in an amount of from about 0.018 to about 0.032 g/cc. The films of this disclosure may be used, for example, as an overwrap or pallet wrap to protect goods during shipping and in food packaging applications (such as shrink wrap for frozen poultry).

Abstract: In the instant invention, simvastatin (Sim) is used to modulate Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) infection at the level of viral replication for treatment of cancer. Both lipid-lowering and pleiotropic cellular effects of simvastatin are exploited in this modulation. Simvastatin upregulates the expression of Rae1 and Nup98, therefore altering normal cellular mRNA distribution and reverting VSV's mRNA export block. Furthermore, simvastatin causes redistribution of Flotillin-1, which affects VSV replication/budding. Simvastatin is further used as a neoadjuvant for the selective modulatory control of live VSV oncolytic therapy.

Abstract: Apparatus for processing substrates according to a predetermined photolithography process includes a loading station in which the substrates are loaded, a coating station in which the substrates are coated with a photoresist material, an exposing station in which the photoresist coating is exposed to light through a mask having a predetermined pattern to produce a latent image of the mask on the photoresist coating, a developing station in which the latent image is developed, an unloading station in which the substrates are unloaded and a monitoring station for monitoring the substrates with respect to predetermined parameters of said photolithography process before reaching the unloading station.
Abstract: Methods and systems for fractionating lignocellulosic biomass including hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin, including exploding the biomass cells to devolatilize the biomass, hydrolyzing the hemicellulose to produce a liquid component including hemicellulosic sugars and a solid component including less than 10% hemicellulose, separating the liquid and solid components, vaporizing the cellulose in the solid component, and condensing the cellulosic sugar vapors. The methods and systems may vaporize the cellulose in a continuous steam reactor at a temperature of about 400-550° C. and a pressure of about 1-3 bara. Electromagnetic and/or electroaccoustic treatment such as ultrasound and/or microwave treatment may be applied to the biomass immediately before or during cellulose hydrolysis.
Abstract: The Application of equations of state to experimental and literature data permits the formation of a model and phase diagram(s) that show under what conditions polyethylene is likely to precipitate out of a high pressure solution of polyethylene in supercritical ethylene. This then permits a better definition to run a high pressure reactor to reduce the likelihood of phase separation, loss of cooling and potentially decomposition of the reactor contents.

Abstract: A slouch correction device and a method of operation is provided for use in a chair, in which the slouch correction device is predominantly a loose seat cover on which a patient would sit, one or more straps from the seat cover which pass through an opening between the chair back and seat to secure to a separate harness or to form a harness about the waist of a caregiver, such that a care giver is able to pull on the harness to slide the seat cover and patient seated thereon back into an improved, upright posture position, while using free hands to hold the chair in a steady position. The slouch correction device provided with various improvements, including dual side handles for two person lifts, means to keep straps in safe and easily accessed position when not in use, and comfort features on the harness.

Abstract: Grease resistant packaging is prepared from a high density polyethylene (HDPE) composition that contains a nucleating agent. Outstanding results are observed when the nucleated HDPE composition is included in an internal layer of a multilayer packaging structure. The use of HDPE that is prepared with a chromium or titanium (especially titanium) containing catalyst is preferred. The packaging may be in the form of a monolayer film, a multilayer film, a sheet or a molded part.

Abstract: The present invention provides a transfer line exchanger which is optimized for one or more objective functions of interest such as pressure drop, erosion rate, fouling, coke deposition and operating costs. The transfer line exchanger is designed by computer modeling a transfer line exchanger in which the cross section of flow path is substantially circular and modeling the operation of the transfer line under industrial conditions to validate the model design and its operation. Then iteratively the model design is deformed and the operation of the deformed part is modeled and compared to values obtained with other deformed models until the value of the objective function is optimized (e.g. at an extreme) or the change in the objective function is approaching zero.

Abstract: Disclosed is a multiple separation filter including a microfiltration membrane, an active carbon-based filter and a ceramic filter stacked in order, wherein the active carbon-based filter is obtained by mixing active carbon with at least one selected from zeolite, gold, silver and a mixture thereof, treating the mixture with plasma gas of 60,000° C. to 70,000° C., and then quenching the mixture to ?200° C. to ?273° C. under vacuum, and the ceramic filter is obtained by quenching plasma gas generated by heating magnesium at 60,000° C. to 70,000° C. to ?200° C. to ?273° C. under vacuum. Disclosed also is antioxidant water obtained by using the multiple separation filter. The antioxidant water has a negative oxidation reduction potential.
