  • Patent number: 8142965
Abstract: A sample having a patterned area and a method for use in controlling a pattern parameter is presented. The sample comprises at least one test structure having a patterned region similar to a pattern in the patterned area, the patterns in the patterned area and in the at least test structure being produced by the same patterning process. The at least one test structure comprises at least one pattern parameter of a predetermined value intentionally increased above a natural value of said certain parameter induced by a patterning process. By this, the natural value of the parameter induced by the patterning process can be determined.

  • Publication number: 20120065522
Abstract: A patient monitoring system including a sensing-recording device that attaches to a patient and a probe utilized by attending personnel at a trauma site. After an initial interaction between the probe and the sensing-recording device, the sensing-recording device samples one or more physiological parameters and stores time stamped readings in a first memory. The probe is adapted to take other measurements, download the data from the first memory of the sensing-recording device, manipulate the collective data and return data to a second memory in the sensing-recording device. The sensing-recording device continues to accumulate data in the first memory during transport of the patient from a trauma, site to a medical facility.

  • Publication number: 20120058240
Abstract: The invention relates to processes for manufacturing stable functional protein-containing beverage compositions, such as dairy-based beverages. A functional ingredient, such as yeast beta-glucan, is stabilized in the protein-containing composition by subjecting the composition to intense agitation, e.g. homogenization or sonication. Advantageously, these processes permits heat-treatment of the functional beverage composition for extended shelf-life of the final product. Stable functional beverage compositions prepared by these processes are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20120044506
Abstract: A method and system are provided for controlling processing of a structure. First measured data is provided being indicative of at least one of: a thickness (d2) of at least one layer (L2) of the structure W in at least selected sites of the structure prior to processing of the structure, and a surface profile of the structure prior to processing. An optical measurement is applied to at least the selected sites of the structure after processing and second measured data is generated being indicative of at least one of: a thickness of the processed structure (d?) and a surface profile of the processed structure. The second measured data is analyzed by interpreting it using the first measured data to determine a thickness (d?1 or d?2) of at least one layer of the processed structure. This determined thickness is indicative of the quality of processing.

  • Patent number: 8119713
Abstract: A polylactide-based polymer or copolymer (PLA) compositions with improved flame retardancy properties as obtained by conventional melt-blending of PLA polyester matrix (1) with both calcium sulfate (2) and organo-modified layered silicates (OMLS) (3). Combination of CaSO4 and OMLS exhibits synergistic effects on PLA flame retardancy by both significantly increasing the time to ignition and decreasing the heat release rate per unit area, and promoting non-dripping properties. Moreover, all other properties of PLA remain almost unchanged or are improved as regards to pristine PLA, especially thermal and mechanical properties.
