Abstract: Disclosed is a method of controlling a prosthetic device. The method includes acquiring electromyographic (EMG) signals from one or more active electrodes configured to be in physical contact with a user, analyzing the acquired electromyographic (EMG) signals to determine the intent of the user and measuring one or more positional covariates associated with the user's residual limb. The method further includes controlling the prosthetic device in proportional response to the determined intent, wherein signal variations caused due to the positional covariates are compensated and providing multi-point sensory feedback to the user in response to the dynamics of the device, wherein the sensory feedback is provided via a wearable device that can be donned on or off by the user.

Abstract: A chamber is provided that works as a peristaltic pump for the pressure correction in the tire, which is a part of the tire or of an ancillary structure placed between the rim and the tire bead and is connected with the tire internal space at one end and with the external environment at the other end. The chamber is in the shape of a curved hollow channel, where at least one enclosing wall is at least partially formed by at least a pair of surfaces coplanar with the longitudinal direction of the chamber. When the tire is mounted on the rim, the pair of surfaces are pressed together thus hermetically closing the chamber. When the chamber is closed during rotation of the wheel, the surfaces can slightly slide on one another taking internal wall tensions onto themselves thus decreasing the possibility of wall damage through ripping.

Abstract: A crushing method for galvanic cells with high energy densities in which a mixture of used cells is placed inside an insulated container and carbon dioxide as dry ice is added to this mixture as a cooling medium. Dry ice is added to the mixture of used galvanic cells at a volumetric ration of 0.5:1 to 2:1. The mixture of used cells with dry ice is cooled down from ?20° C. to ?50° C. and is subsequently fed to the crushing device and subjected to crushing. A stream of used galvanic cells and a stream of dry ice granules are preferably fed simultaneously to the insulated container of the crushing device, and this mixture is forwarded to the working part of the crushing device. At the end of galvanic cell crushing, the mixture of air and gaseous carbon dioxide is returned to the insulated container.

Abstract: A hospital bed has an inclinable backrest, a pneumatic mattress, and an automatically acting mechanical air pressure control for the mattress. The pressure control includes a gravity responsive valve between the backrest and another zone of the mattress. A weighted mass in the pressure control urges the valve to move to a desired position and may counter a biasing member acting on the valve. The weighted mass may prevail against the biasing member when the backrest is upright but may yield to the biasing member when the backrest has been lowered. With the backrest upright, pneumatic cells of the backrest may be isolated from the other zone of the mattress. With an air source arranged to inflate the other zone, that portion of the mattress exposed to greater weight of a patient, as would occur with the backrest upright, enjoys increased air pressure.
Abstract: A method of performing arthroplasty of an anatomical joint for receipt of an implant is disclosed. The method includes developing a preoperative plan, designing a patient specific guide based on the preoperative plan, obtaining the patient specific guide, placing the patient specific guide relative to the identified bone, fixing a pair of pins into the bone to establish an Alpha plane and executing the preoperative plan while referencing the Alpha plane.
