  • Patent number: 4487593
Abstract: A bearing assembly of a wheel hub for a motor vehicle wheel having an outer bearing ring adapted to be affixed with a vehicle chassis and an inner bearing ring having the wheel mounted thereon. A constant velocity joint is connected to the inner bearing ring for driving the wheel hub, the rotary joint including first and second joint members. The first joint member has three radially extending pins which are arranged uniformly spaced in the circumferential direction in a star-like configuration and are secured to the inner bearing ring. The second joint member is connected to a drive shaft and has three rolling tracks formed therein. The assembly further includes three annular rolling bodies having spherically shaped outer surfaces, each rolling body being separately supported on one of the pins and being received in the rolling tracks of the second joint member for the transmission of torque, the first bearing ring defining a bore for receiving the inner joint member.

  • Patent number: 4487364
Abstract: An arrangement for heating the operator's cabin of a machine driven by an internal combustion engine utilizes the engine oil as a heating medium as it is pressurized by a hydraulic pump and is elevated in temperature as it passes through a throttling element. To accelerate the heating of the internal combustion engine, the return line from the space heat exchanger into which the heated engine oil flows is located upstream of the engine lubricating points. To increase the heat supply to a portion of the engine oil, the hydraulic pump located downstream of the lubricating-oil feed pump suctions away, for the purpose of limiting the flow, some of the engine oil flowing through the main oil distribution system of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4487001
Abstract: The lower end portion of a magazine for parallel cigarettes or like rod-shaped articles contains a horizontal grid of parallel rods which divide the outlet opening of the lower end portion into parallel passages wherein the cigarettes descend into an empty tray therebelow. When the tray is filled (such filling takes place while the tray descends, either continuously or stepwise), the passages are blocked by rod-like closing members which are parallel to the rods of the grid and are movable from inoperative positions behind the rods of the grid to intercepting positions in or above the passages. The closing members are oscillated and/or vibrated to prevent jamming of passages and/or bridging of cigarettes above the grid. The mechanism for moving the closing members between inoperative and intercepting positions employs a pneumatic motor or an electromagnet which can shift a common carrier for the closing members. The mechanism is actuated in automatic response to completed filling of a tray.

  • Patent number: 4487088
Abstract: A sprocket construction for a zero caternary chain. In a zero caternary chain, a tensioning system is utilized to prevent caternary or slack in the chain and as a result of the high degree of tensioning, the bushings of the chain ride against the roots of the sprocket teeth. To prevent erosion of the sprocket teeth and bushings, the root diameter is modified to provide an enlarged operating pitch diameter for a predetermined increase in pitch length of the link. The pitch line clearance is enlarged so that it is equal to 2% to 25% of the working pitch diameter and produces a pressure angle of 20.degree. to 40.degree..

  • Patent number: 4485977
Abstract: An improved roller mill construction. Material to be milled or ground such is fed through a discharge opening in a hopper to a pair of cooperating rolls that are mounted within a housing. The discharge opening is enclosed by a sliding gate which is biased to the closed position and can be opened by manual operation of a pull rod. An adjustable setting mechanism is incorporated with the pull rod and enables the gate to be held at an infinite number of open positions. To adjust the spacing between the rolls, the shaft of one of the rolls is journalled within bearing assemblies that are mounted for sliding movement with respect to the housing. A rod is secured to each slidable bearing assembly and is threadedly connected to a shaft which carries a sprocket. By driving the sprockets in unison, the shafts will be rotated to thereby move the bearing assemblies and adjust the spacing between the rolls.

  • Patent number: 4485757
Abstract: An apparatus and a process are disclosed making it possible to mount, without disadvantages, relatively hard particles, such as diamond dust and the like, on wire-like base material in such a way that the diamond dust is not damaged, wherein any desired coating, that is, especially also a coating coherent over the length of the wire, can be produced. This coating is at least macroscopically homogeneous in character. In such a process for the application of relatively hard particles to a circular wire-like form or a wire-like form without longitudinal edges, for the purpose of producing a plain or multiple saw, the form is coated under pressure with the aid of a surface of two rolls. This surface is at least partially provided with the particles to be applied. The wire-like form is turned about its longitudinal axis during this process. The form must be present in the straight, that is stretched, condition.

  • Patent number: 4485844
Abstract: A back pressure inducer and check valve is disclosed for use with a fluid system having inlet passageway, an outlet passageway and in which fluid flows from the inlet and to the outlet passageway. The back pressure inducer comprises a valve seat secured to the system and having a fluid port fluidly between the inlet and outlet passageways. A valve member is movable between a closed and open position to variably open the fluid port while a spring urges the valve member towards its closed position. Cooperating conical surfaces on the valve member and valve seat form an annular passageway when the valve member is in its open position to produce controlled pressure drops between the inlet and outlet conduit over a wide range of fluid flow rates.
