  • Patent number: 5752153
Abstract: In the fixing station, the recording substrate 4 is transported by friction between two rollers (1, 2). In order to tauten the recording substrate (4), it is braked by a braking device (3) upstream of the rollers (1, 2). A length equalizing element (5) equalizes any length differences occurring in the recording substrate (4). The rotational speed of the rollers (1, 2) is controlled as a function of the deflection of the length equalizing element (5). The deflection time (txy) between reaching a deflection point a and a deflection point b is registered and compared with a desired deflection time (tsp). The braking force of the braking device (3) is reduced if the desired deflection time (tsp) is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 5740331
Abstract: Image information suitable for positive image generation and present in matrix form is transferred from a data processing device (1) to a converting device (5). The converting device (5) contains a storage device (2) accommodating at least two image lines (m) and an OR logic combining means (3). The latter, in order to generate image information suitable for inverse image generation of a pixel (P), logically combines the image information suitable for positive image generation of this pixel (P) with at least one further such item of image information of an adjacent pixel (P). The generated pixels (P) are output by the converting device (5) to an image reproduction device (4).

  • Patent number: 5685471
Abstract: A printing device with friction drive for processing continuous paper. For this purpose, it contains a friction drive (8) comprising friction rollers, between which the recording substrate (A) is passed through, and a paper feed device (PZ). In the paper feed device (PZ), the recording substrate (A) is aligned in a web precentering device (3), is thereafter braked in the recording substrate transport direction, so that the recording substrate (A) assumes a predetermined position in the friction drive (8). After that, the recording substrate web is stabilized in a stabilization zone by stabilization rollers (9) and is fed via a festoon device (10) to the drive (8) of the printing unit (DA).

  • Patent number: 5667125
Abstract: A device for transporting printing media (12) in printers or copiers has transporting elements (36), arranged rotatably in a printing medium transport channel at a distance from the printing medium (12), as a feeding aid for an automatic paper feeding device. Located on the circumferential region of the transporting elements (36) are friction elements (40) which are bound, so as to be deflectable in the manner of impact elements, to the axis of rotation (38) of the transporting elements (36) and have friction surfaces (41) which, due to centrifugal force during rotation of the transporting elements (36), move the friction elements (40) out of a rest position, counter to a restoring force, via their friction surface (41) into frictional contact with the printing medium (12) and transport the latter. The friction elements (40) release the printing medium (12) when the transporting element (36) is stationary.

  • Patent number: 5659875
Abstract: An electrographic printer device is designed for printing web-shaped recording media (10) having different web widths in different operating modes, such as single-colored and multi-colored simplex printing, single-colored and multi-colored duplex printing and for simultaneously printing two recording medium webs in parallel operation. To this end, the units of the printer device such as intermediate carrier (11), transfer printing station (15) and fixing station (18) comprise a usable width of at least twice the web width of a narrow recording medium. The printer device further contains a deflection means (28) following the fixing station (18) and engageable as needed and having an allocated return channel to the transfer printing station (15) via which the recording medium (10) is turned and resupplied to the transfer printing station (15) in single-color or multi-color duplex mode.

  • Patent number: 5651488
Abstract: A stacking device in a printer or copier for stacking a strip-like, prefolded recording medium has, as feed arrangement, a motor-driven feed roller (13) and a plurality of adjacently arranged pressure rollers for pressing the recording medium (10) against the feed roller (13). The two outer pressure rollers (16/1, 16/2) in respect of the edge regions of the recording medium are designed as guide pressure rollers which change their inclination of the axes of rotation in dependence on the transporting direction of the paper or recording medium and thus make the recording medium taut between the guide pressure rollers. This prevents undesirable bunching, creasing or deformation caused by slack in the paper between the pressure rollers. In order to achieve this change in the inclination of the axes of rotation, the guide pressure rollers (16/1, 16/2) contain an eccentric axle arrangement.
