Abstract: A print system electrographically prints two web shaped recording media which are then sent to a post-processing station. The print sides of the two recording media are offset from one another by a distance and the two recording media are crossed so that they overlie one another after leaving the printer and upon entry into the post-processing station.
Abstract: A printing press has a conveying path for a paper web formed by rollers and has at least one high performance printing unit arranged at the conveying path, a plurality of ink jets or multi-color printing units being arranged along the conveying path at intervals in a row and a paper web intermediate store is located in the conveying path preceding each of the ink jet or multi-color printing units, as viewed in the paper conveying direction.
Abstract: A printer or copier has a transfer printing station for electrostatic transfer of toner from a photoconductor to the recording medium. A pressure contact element is provided on the recording medium guide elements to ensure contact of the recording medium with the photoconductor during transfer. Supporting rollers of a slightly greater diameter than the pressure contact element are provided at each end thereof bearing on the photoconductor as spacer elements to define a minimum spacing between the pressure contact element and the intermediate carrier. The contact pressure element(s) may also be mounted on pivotable levers movable by an eccentric.

Abstract: A method for operating a printer or copier provides that error conditions are sensed utilizing monitoring units. A determination is made as to whether the error condition is readily repairable by the user and, if so, the display unit displays information on the error condition including instructions for repairing the error condition. If, on the other hand, the error condition is determined to be repairable only by a skilled technician, the display unit displays only the instructions to contact the skilled technician.

Abstract: The invention relates to a sheet-fed printing press which includes at least one high performance printing unit, especially a laser printing unit, and several ink jet printing units which are each situated on one of several parallel sheet conveying channels. The sheet conveying channels being connected to a shared input channel on the input side via sheet guides and to several sheet temporary storage devices on the output side. The sheet temporary storage devices are connected in turn to a shared sheet output channel on the output side. The at least one high-performance printing unit is connected to the shared sheet input channel of the ink jet printing units or to the shared sheet output channel of the sheet temporary storage device. The inventive sheet-fed printing press enable quick, problem-free and economical multicolor printing and is simple and economical to produce.
Abstract: A printer includes a printer carrier having a surface for receiving ink for transfer printing onto a carrier material, such as paper. Areas of the surface print carrier are ink attracting and others are made ink repelling. The ink repelling areas are formed by providing the surface with a layer of a substance in a solid phase, such as water in the form of ice. The ice layer repels the ink as it is applied so that the ink is only held on the surface of the print carrier at the areas that are ice free. The ice layer is formed by cooling the surface using a cooling mechanism to form a coating of frost due to condensation. A surface tension reducer for water is coated on the surface prior to cooling the surface. A laser or other radiation emitter structures the ice layer to form the print image.
Abstract: A device and method for providing a supply of single sheets wherein each single sheet has a varying thickness. The present invention includes a stack of single sheets that are supported on a lifting platform. The lifting platform includes a compensation device for leveling the stack by compensating for the varying thickness of each single sheet.
Abstract: A multicolor printer uses toner of two polarities applied on a photo conductor layer prior to the two toners being applied to a carrier. The photo conductor layer is provided with an image-wise illumination with regions of different illumination to form regions of different potentials. The regions of different potentials are developed by applying the toner of two polarities. Further colors of toner may be used, provided illumination with corresponding different illumination and provided charging of the photo conductor layer to change relative potentials is performed. An overall illumination of the photo conductor layer between developing steps changes potential levels on regions not covered by toner but not in areas covered by toner.
Abstract: A printer is provided with two similar printing units fed with sheet-like material via a common input section. Printed material is output via a common output section. Groups of transport rollers and individual transport rollers are driven by step motors.
Abstract: A device for conveying sheet-like material between a driven roller and a counter-pressure roller is disclosed. The device also includes opposing guide plates that form a channel for feeding the sheet-like material to the nip between the two rollers. At least one of the rollers includes a channel-like recess into which its associated guide plate extends.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for printing individual sheets gathers the sheets in groups and feeds the sheets past a printer unit. Paper paths are provided in two ring shapes and two printers are provided to permit printing on one side in one color, both sides in one color, one side in two colors and two sides in two colors or one color on one side and two colors on the other side.
Abstract: A printer or copier includes a high speed monochrome or two color printer portion and a slower full color printer portion. Print job signals are divided into monochrome and color printed pages and sent to the corresponding printer portion. The printers, or a paper handling path between the printers, is controlled to assemble the printed pages into a predetermined sequence order.

Abstract: A method and a device for controlling a drive unit which conveys a striplike laterally pre-printed recording medium, whereby a sensor is sensitized with respect to a regularly re-occurring mark of the recording medium. The recording medium is continuously scanned by the sensor during the printing operation and the speed at which the recording medium is conveyed is adjusted according to scanned signals from the sensor.

Abstract: A sub-assembly for assembled systems has a front plate with two sections, with each section having a standard front height and a standard front width and each section having a disk drive. The assembly also has a common supporting plate extending vertically from the front plate on which the two disk drives are mounted offset with the back surface of each disk drive facing in an opposite direction with the disk drive having the back surface facing the front panel being spaced therefrom to form a space for connecting lines extending from plug connectors on the front panel that extend to the connectors on the back surfaces of each disk drive.
Abstract: A printer or copier and method generates toner images for transfer onto a recording medium. A latent charge image is generated on a photoconductor and is developed by the application of toner by at least one developer station to generate the toner image for transfer to the recording medium. A plurality of the developer stations are provided along the photoconductor to develop the images in color using a color separation method. A transfer band collects the color separations on top of one another to generate the overall toner image which is transferred to the recording medium. Multiple modules, each with developer stations, a photoconductor and a transfer band may be provided for one sided or two sided printing.

Abstract: A method and device for output of single sheets from a printer employs a driven first roller pair having a conveying nip in which a respective single sheet is transported and deflected from an approximately vertically proceeding conveying path into an approximately horizontal conveying path. A separation element that suppresses a continued conveying of the respective single sheet on a circumferential surface of a lower roller of the roller pair is arranged in a proximity of the circumferential surface of the lower roller. An edge sensor is arranged preceding the roller as viewed in a conveying direction for determining whether single sheets have pushed on top of one another. A discharge brush electrically discharges one side of the single sheet arranged in the conveying path following the roller pair. A deflection device deflects the single sheet emerging from the conveying nip into a substantially horizontal attitude shortly before the conveying nip as viewed in a direction of the conveying path.
Abstract: A printer or copier apparatus is fashioned in such a way that with a single apparatus a recording medium can be printed both with magnetically readable toner (MICR toner) and also with standard toner. For this purpose, it contains one or more correspondingly fashioned developer stations (ES) and a control unit for the adaptation of the print process parameters dependent on the mode of operation.

Abstract: A shutter device enables access to the paper path in a single sheet printer with a first shutter (P1) which can pivot about a first pivotal axis (D2) into an open position wherein shutter stands at a distance from the paper path and uncovers an opening. A second shutter (P2) is located near the first shutter (P1). Like the first shutter, the second shutter forms, when in an operating position, a second of the guide surfaces adjacent to the section formed by the first shutter (P1), which can pivot about a second pivotal axis (D1) into an open position and increase an opening for access to the paper path when in this position. In order to support opening of the second shutter (P2), a clamping member (Z1) is also provided on the second shutter, which is prestressed when the second shutter (P2) is in the operating position.
