Abstract: Systems and methods for calibrating an array camera are disclosed. Systems and methods for calibrating an array camera in accordance with embodiments of this invention include the capturing of an image of a test pattern with the array camera such that each imaging component in the array camera captures an image of the test pattern. The image of the test pattern captured by a reference imaging component is then used to derive calibration information for the reference component. A corrected image of the test pattern for the reference component is then generated from the calibration information and the image of the test pattern captured by the reference imaging component. The corrected image is then used with the images captured by each of the associate imaging components associated with the reference component to generate calibration information for the associate imaging components.
Abstract: Systems and methods for mitigating certain spoofing of vehicle features are disclosed herein. An example method can include determining input torque values obtained from a steering torque sensor associated with a steering wheel of a vehicle, wherein the input torque values are obtained over a period of time, determining road disturbances using a road disturbance model, applying a driver model that is indicative of human driver hands-on-wheel behaviors, determining when input torque values are indicative of a spoof or human interaction with the steering wheel using the input torque values, the road disturbance model, and the driver model, and executing a remediating measure when the input torque values are indicative of the spoof.

Abstract: The disclosed head cradle may include a flexible portion that is configured to conform to an occipital region of a user's head and a base portion comprising at least one mounting element that is configured to secure the head cradle to a head strap for supporting a head-mounted display, a first biasing element secured to a first side of the flexible portion, and a second biasing element secured to a second, opposite side of the flexible portion, wherein the first and second biasing elements are configured to allow the flexible portion to conform to the occipital region of the user's head when a force substantially normal to the user's head is applied to the base portion. Various other devices, methods, and systems are also disclosed.
Abstract: A method prevents unauthorized access to user data files on a computing device. The device receives a request from an application to open a data file (including file name path). The device determines whether the path corresponds to a designated storage location for user data files and determines whether access to the data file has previously been granted for the application. When the file is a user file with no permission for the application, the device uses a volition table to determine whether access volition has been asserted for the data file by the application within a preceding predefined period of time. When access volition has been asserted, the device permits the application to access the data file. When access volition has not been asserted, the device displays a user interface box prompting a user to decide whether or not to grant the application access to the data file.
Abstract: At least one exemplary embodiment is directed to a method of determining hearing loss using audio cues whose spectrum is orthogonal to each other to identify a wearer's hearing loss, and using the information to adjust audio to normal listening levels.
Abstract: Methods and systems disclosed herein may optimize write operations in a transaction to reduce the number of operations to the point where each of the write operations may be performed in parallel. The writer optimizer may review a first write operation and a second write operation to determine whether the first write operation and the second write operation write to the same row in the same table. When the first write operation and the second write operation write to the same row in the same table, the first write operation and the second write operation may be combined to generate a functionally-equivalent third write operation. The third write operation may reduce the number of operations in the transaction by replacing both the first write operation and the second write operation.
Abstract: A fat harvesting systems and related methods of harvesting and reinjecting fat that provides a medical professional with multiple technique options. Harvested fat can be subjected to a variety of pre-reinjection preparation steps within a single, self contained reservoir such that the potential for contaminating the harvested fat is avoided. The fat harvesting system can be completely self-contained kit requiring no additional external systems or alternatively, can utilize available surgical suite systems, for example, vacuum to successfully harvest, prepare and reinject fat cells. The fat harvesting system can size harvested fat cells so as to be especially desirable for different injection locations in the body. The fat harvesting system is a single use, disposable system that requires no sterilization equipment and recovered and sized fat cells are maintained in a sanitary environment so as to avoid contamination that could result in having to discard recovered fat cells.

Abstract: Various aspects of the subject technology relate to a lidar validation system. The lidar validation system is configured to acquire one or more lidar point clouds from a lidar unit, wherein the lidar unit comprises one or more lasers, and wherein each point cloud is a representation of a scene according to a laser in the lidar unit, the scene comprising a fiducial target. The lidar validation system is configured to generate, based on points in the one or more point clouds, a target cloud that correspond to the fiducial target, perform a rigid body processing to minimize a sum of distances from each point in the target cloud to the fiducial target, and generate lidar validation measurements based on the distances from each point in the target cloud to the fiducial target.

Abstract: An autonomous vehicle is tested using virtual objects. The autonomous vehicle is maneuvered, by one or more computing devices, the autonomous vehicle in an autonomous driving mode. Sensor data is received corresponding to objects in the autonomous vehicle's environment, and virtual object data is received corresponding to a virtual object in the autonomous vehicle's environment. The virtual object represents a real object that is not in the vehicle's environment. The autonomous vehicle is maneuvered based on both the sensor data and the virtual object data. Information about the maneuvering of the vehicle based on both the sensor data and the virtual object data may be logged and analyzed.

Abstract: A vehicle seat restraint system includes a vehicle seat of a vehicle. The vehicle seat includes a leg-rest supporting lower legs and feet of an occupant of the vehicle seat. An in-vehicle occupant detection system identifies positions of the lower legs and the feet of the occupant. A restraint actuator is connected to the vehicle seat. A safety restraint element is extended by actuation of the restraint actuator from a stowed position proximate to the leg-rest into an engaged position wherein the safety restraint element contacts and restrains the lower legs and the feet of the occupant against the leg-rest, mitigating against occupant knee hyperextension due to leg straightening at an occupant knee joint.
