Abstract: A secure data parser is provided that may be integrated into any suitable system for securely storing and communicating data. The secure data parser parses data and then splits the data into multiple portions that are stored or communicated distinctly. Encryption of the original data, the portions of data, or both may be employed for additional security. The secure data parser may be used to protect data in motion by splitting original data into portions of data, that may be communicated using multiple communications paths.

Abstract: An energy conversion device may include a shaft including a first portion and a second portion wherein the first portion of the shaft is configured to rotate relative to the second portion of the shaft. A rotor may be coupled to the first portion of the shaft and a stator may be coupled to the second portion of the shaft. A first one-way bearing may be coupled to the first portion of the shaft and configured to transfer rotational input to the first portion of the shaft in a first direction. A second one-way bearing may be coupled to the second portion of the shaft and configured to transfer rotational input to the second portion of the shaft in a second direction opposite the first direction.

Abstract: Indices of storage systems are managed. An example method includes: receiving a flush cycle for flushing expired events in a storage system including multiple events in a data stream, determining, based on the flush cycle, a time slice for managing the index of the storage system, creating a slice index node for the time slice in response to determining that the occurrence time of a first event that enters the storage system in the data stream is within the time slice, wherein the slice index node includes an index node of the first event, and adding the slice index node to the index. A corresponding device and a corresponding computer program product are provided. Thus, the index of a large number of events entering the storage system is managed according to the occurrence time of the events, and the storage system can be searched and updated accurately and effectively.

Abstract: A system and process for restarting a turbomachine includes a shutdown cooldown protection process implemented by a plant level control system or direct control system of the turbomachine. The system and process for restarting ensure rotating components are cooled as expected prior to a unit restart. This system and process for restarting will lockout an ability to restart if an improper cooldown of rotating components is detected. If this lockout is enabled, delaying restart for the rotating components to cool naturally is needed, or the operator could decide to force cool the components.

Abstract: A policy interpreter detects that an application container has been added in a container system, and opens a stored manifest for the application container. The policy interpreter retrieves running services information regarding the application container, and generates a security policy for the application container. The security policy defines a set of actions for which the application container can perform, and the set of actions are determined using the manifest and the running service information associated with the application container. The policy interpreter loads the security policy at a security container. The security container blocks an action performed by the application container in response to determining that the action performed by the application container does not match any action in the set of actions defined in the security policy. The policy interpreter transmits the security policy to a graphical user interface container for presentation to a user via a display device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling autonomous vehicle are provided. A method can include obtaining, by a computing system, data indicative of a plurality of objects in a surrounding environment of the autonomous vehicle. The method can further include determining, by the computing system, one or more clusters of the objects based at least in part on the data indicative of the plurality of objects. The method can further include determining, by the computing system, whether to enter an operation mode having one or more limited operational capabilities based at least in part on one or more properties of the one or more clusters. In response to determining that the operation mode is to be entered by the autonomous vehicle, the method can include controlling, by the computing system, the operation of the autonomous vehicle based at least in part on the one or more limited operational capabilities.

Abstract: Some implementations are directed to adapting a client application on a feature phone based on experiment parameters. Some of those implementations are directed to adapting an assistant client application, where the assistant client application interacts with remote assistant component(s) to provide automated assistant functionalities via the assistant client application of the feature phone. Some implementations are additionally or alternatively directed to determining whether an invocation, of an assistant client application on a feature phone, is a request for transcription of voice data received in conjunction with the invocation, or is instead a request for an assistant response that is responsive to the transcription of the voice data (e.g., includes assistant content that is based on and in addition to the transcription, and that optionally lacks the transcription itself).

Abstract: There is disclosed a transport refrigeration unit comprising an enclosed cargo space, an outer refrigeration cycle configured to transfer heat from the cargo space exteriorly of the cargo space, to cool the cargo space; a container installed within the cargo space; and an inner refrigeration cycle configured to transfer heat from an interior of the container, to cool the interior of the container. There is also disclosed a portable refrigeration device for use in such nested cooling arrangements, methods of adapting a transport refrigeration unit and/or portable refrigeration device for such use, a refrigeration module for such use, and an associated method of operating a transport refrigeration unit.

Abstract: A method and system for storing data in portable storage devices. Specifically, the disclosed method and system provide a solution for the write-hole problem inflicting persistent storage, especially redundant array of independent disks (RAID) configured storage. The write-hole problem may arise from the occurrence of power failure during a write operation of data to RAID configured storage, subsequently resulting in disparities between the data and parity information thereof—the consistency there-between of which is critical to data reconstruction upon disk failure. To rectify these inconsistencies, a full-stripe (or full-block set) write is recommended, which the disclosed method and system implements through the use of, and re-mapping of relationships between, virtual, physical, and in-memory block sets.

Abstract: Computing systems, devices, and methods of dynamic image composition for container deployment are disclosed herein. One example technique includes receiving a request for accessing a file from a container process. In response to receiving the request, the technique includes querying a mapping table corresponding to the container process to locate an entry corresponding to a file identifier of the requested file. The entry also includes data identifying a file location on the storage device from which the requested file is accessible. The technique further includes retrieving a copy of the requested file according to the file location identified by the data in the located entry in the mapping table and providing the retrieved copy of the requested file to the container process, thereby allowing the container process to access the requested file.

Abstract: In an example, a starting argument post may be received, via a first debate interface, from a first client device associated with a first user account of a debate system. A first response post may be received, via a second debate interface, from a second client device associated with a second user account of the debate system. The first response post corresponds to a response to the starting argument post. The starting argument post and the first response post are included in a first debate thread. When a first submission status of the first user account is active, submission of a response post for inclusion in the first debate thread may be enabled via the first debate interface. A second response post may be received, via the first debate interface and when the first submission status of the first user account is active, from the first client device.

Abstract: Computing system enhancements make container instantiation faster, reduce layer content storage demands, and make more container image formats available. A container instantiation location sends a container image pull request to a container registry, receives an image manifest, sends a layer mount request to the registry instead of a layer content download request, receives a layer mount, optionally repeats for additional layers, creates a union file system spanning the layers, and launches a container process based on the union file system without first downloading all the layer content.

Abstract: A vehicle apparatus charges and sanitizes a mobile device. The mobile device has an inductive power receiver coil for wireless charging. A storage bin in the vehicle (such as a center console or a glove compartment) has a movable lid. A tray of the charging/sanitizing apparatus is adapted to receive a side surface of the mobile device so that a majority of the side surface is suspended from the tray by a gap. A first wireless power link is configured to inductively charge the mobile device from the tray to the power receiver coil. A plurality of ultraviolet emitters are disposed at a plurality of locations inside the storage bin to illuminate an exterior of the mobile device when the movable lid is closed. At least some of the ultraviolet emitters are also inductively powered.

Abstract: A trench is dug under an above ground water storage tank either before erection of the walls or after the wall is erected. A (rectangular) sump is preferably made of ¼ inch steel. It serves as a conduit from an inner tank liner port to an outside tank fill or drain port. The system eliminates hoses hung over the top edge of the tank wall. A pump can fill the tank from the outer port. The tank can be drained using head pressure of the water and/or a pump.
