Abstract: The disclosed technology provides techniques, systems, and apparatus for containing and recovering from uncorrectable memory errors in distributed computing environment through migration of virtual machines and associated memory to a target host machine. An aspect of the disclosed technology includes a hypervisor or virtual machine manager that receives signaling of an uncorrectable memory error detected by a host machine. The virtual machine manager then uses information received via the signaling to identify virtual memory addresses or memory pages associated with the corrupted memory element so as to allow for containment and recovery from the error, and for live migration of the virtual machine.
Abstract: Roofing shingles are disclosed that are capable of self-adhering to a roof deck or underlayment and/or other roofing shingles and that require few or no mechanical fasteners to remain attached to the roof. By appropriate positioning of sealant lines on the shingle, direct adhesion between the shingle and the roof deck or underlayment and/or other roofing shingles can be achieved. If the shingle is laminated, the layers may be mechanically attached with indentations in the common bond area. The nail zone of the shingle may be visually indicated with fines and/or one or more paint lines. A roofing system comprising a plurality of courses of the shingles is also disclosed.

Abstract: An evacuation unit is configured to remove entrapped fluid from a flow control. These configurations may incorporate devices that can passively discharge fluid in response to loss of system pressure. These devices may use gravity or spring-assist as mechanisms to move fluid out of spaces in the device. This feature mitigates risks that the entrapped fluid freezes and expands, which can cause damage to metal components and lead to extensive downtime of process lines. As an added benefit, the features can reduce product costs or complexity because the proposed designs avoid the need for additional, peripheral “accessories,” like pumps or heating elements, resident at the location of the flow control.

Abstract: Reducing overheads of recording a replayable execution trace of a program's execution at a computer processor by omitting logging of accesses to memory addresses whose values can be reconstructed or predicted. A computer system determines that memory values corresponding to a range of memory addresses within a memory space for a process can be obtained separately from the process' execution, and configures a data structure for instructing a processor to omit logging of memory accesses when the processor accesses an address within this range while executing the process. Correspondingly, upon detecting a memory access while executing the process, the processor determines if it has been instructed to omit logging of the access by checking the data structure. When the data structure instructs the processor to omit logging of the access, the processor omits logging the memory access while it uses a cache to process the memory access.
Abstract: A wet wiper for cleaning an oral cavity or an oral appliance. The wet wiper comprises a water insoluble substrate and a physiologically acceptable cleansing composition. Methods for cleansing oral cavities and oral appliances are also provided, such methods comprising the step of contacting the surface of an oral cavity or an oral appliance with a wet wiper of the present invention for a sufficient time to permit cleaning.

Abstract: A biometric identification device may be used to secure passwords and other valuable information. In one implementation, the biometric identification device may be a capacitive fingerprint sensor. Capacitive readings may be used to identify the ridges and valleys of a fingerprint and determine if an object contacting the fingerprint sensor is living tissue. Two-factor identification may be implemented by recognizing the authenticity of biometric inputs and a specific combination or sequence in which the biometric inputs are provided. A user interface is provided in which sequences of biometric inputs are associated with commands. A user may indicate a command by providing a predetermined sequence of fingerprints to a fingerprint scanner.
Abstract: A trailer restraining device comprising a portable frame having mounted thereto a tail hook and a king pin receiver that includes at least one of a receiver hydraulic cylinder, a receiver pneumatic cylinder, a receiver electric actuator, and a receive winch.
Abstract: A method for decoding a coded video sequence includes decoding at least one tile which comprises a first tile boundary defined by a first tile layout and a second tile boundary defined by second tile layout, wherein the coded video sequence indicates that at least one first prediction mechanism is available across the first tile boundary, and that the at least one first prediction mechanism is not available across the second tile boundary.
Abstract: A head-mounted display (HMD) for improved field of view (FOV) is provided. The head-mounted display (HMD) may include a display element to provide display light. The head-mounted display (HMD) may also include a lens element to provide display light to a user of the head-mounted display (HMD). The head-mounted display (HMD) may further include an optical element comprising at least one waveguide to provide improved central or peripheral field of view (FOV) for the user of head-mounted display (HMD). In some examples, the waveguide may be part of central optics and/or peripheral optics. The waveguide may have a planar waveguide profile or a curved waveguide profile. In some examples, the waveguide may be stacked or may include a graded index (GRIN) layer.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a miter gauge and methods of use thereof. Generally, this disclosure is related to a miter bar of a miter gauge that includes at least one spacer member which applies pressure to a side of a channel defined within a worktable. The application of this pressure by the at least one spacer member enables the miter bar to remain in a substantially constant position between the first side and second side of the channel and reduces the degree of play between the miter bar and the first and second sides of the channel. Retainer members are provided on a bottom of the miter bar to aid in preventing the miter bar from lifting vertically out of the channel during use.
Abstract: An anthropomorphic, artificial intelligence-based system and method to provide benefits products field underwriting and post-enrollment customer services through a cognitive virtual assistant. The system can contact to one or more third-party benefits provider systems to obtain coverage details, provider types and location details, and to modify member coverage types on behalf of the member. The system can contact third-party pharmacy systems to fill medical prescriptions. The system can contact third-party medical services for providing information directed to medical services.
Abstract: A wireless communication network deregisters network functions. In the wireless communication, a network data system receives a deregistration command that indicates a wireless User Equipment (UE) and forwards the deregistration command to a Unified Data Management (UDM). The UDM receives the indication and determines a Data Network Name (DNN) for the wireless UE. The UDM identifies a network controller and a session controller for the wireless UE based on the DNN. The UDM transfers deregistration notifications to the network controller and session controller. The UDM receives a deregistration acknowledgement from the network controller. The UDM directs the network data system to remove stored session data for the session controller. The network data system receives the direction from the UDM and responsively removes stored session data for the session controller.

Fluid distribution function and hardware are integrated to the frame. One or more contact pads can be located on an external surface of the frame, for transferring thermal energy with IT equipment.
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for extracting text from a document. Different optical character recognition (OCR) tools are used to extract different versions of the text in the document. Metrics evaluating the quality of the extracted text are compared to identify and select higher quality extracted text. A selected portion of text is compared to a threshold to ensure minimal quality. The selected portion of text is then saved. Error correction can be applied to the selected portion of text based on errors specific to the OCR tools or the document contents.
