Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for performing reading comprehension with machine learning. More specifically, the present disclosure is directed to a Neural Symbolic Reader (example implementations of which may be referred to as NeRd), which includes a reader to encode the passage and question, and a programmer to generate a program for multi-step reasoning. By using operators like span selection, the program can be executed over a natural language text passage to generate an answer to a natural language text question. NeRd is domain-agnostic such that the same neural architecture works for different domains. Further, NeRd is compositional such that complex programs can be generated by compositionally applying the symbolic operators.

Abstract: A system includes an in-cabin sensor, a seatbelt routing zone module, and a seatbelt routing classification module. The in-cabin sensor is operable to generate an image of an occupant in a vehicle seat. The seatbelt routing zone module is configured to generate a seatbelt routing zone based on at least one of a size of the occupant in the image and a shape of the occupant. The seatbelt routing classification module is configured to determine whether a seatbelt is routed properly around the occupant based on whether the seatbelt is at least partially within the seatbelt routing zone.

Abstract: Upon identifying an authorized user approaching a vehicle, vehicle locks are controlled to permit the authorized user to access an authorized area based on a user authorization. Permitted vehicle features within the authorized area for the authorized user are identified based on the user authorization. Upon receiving a user input selecting one permitted vehicle feature, the selected permitted vehicle feature is actuated based on determining that a state of charge of a battery is above a charge threshold. Upon determining that the state of charge of the battery decreases below the charge threshold, actuation of the selected permitted vehicle feature is stopped. Then an engine is controlled to charge the battery based on the user authorization.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for transmitting data messages via secure tunnels in a network. The method is performed at a gateway device. The method determines that a data message received at the gateway device should be sent via a secure interface of the gateway device. The method matches the data message to a firewall rule that maps to a particular secure tunnel used by the secure interface, with multiple different firewall rules mapping to multiple different secure tunnels used by the secure interface. The method encapsulates the data message with a header that comprises an indicator value specifying the particular secure tunnel and forwards the encapsulated data message to a destination interface.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for determining information about one or more objects in a 3-dimensional (3D) space are disclosed. One aspect of the method includes defining a virtual ground plane within a monitored 3D space. The virtual ground plane is divided into a plurality of bins. Each bin has corresponding counter value. An object is detected in a respective image captured by each of a plurality of sensors. A respective line segment is selected corresponding to a respective light between each of the plurality of image sensors and the detected object. One or more bins of the virtual ground plane are selected onto which a respective projected line segment of each respective line segment overlap. Each counter value for each of the one or more selected bins is increased. A location of the object is determined based on a bin of the one or more bins having a highest counter value.
