Abstract: In aspects of display photo update recommendations, a catalyst is identified for updating a display photo of a user on a social media website. Further, a first collection of photos that are associated with the catalyst are retrieved from a photo gallery maintained in memory of a computing device. Using a machine learning model trained on a second collection of display photos utilized by connections of the user on the social media website, one or criteria are determined for display photos. Moreover, candidate display photos that satisfy the one or more criteria are identified from the first collection of photos and output to the photo gallery.

Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods related to providing assistance services to a disabled vehicle. In an example embodiment, a method executed by a first processor in a vehicle may involve detecting an event that places the vehicle in a disabled condition; transmitting information associated with the event to a second processor; and detecting an arrival of a assistance vehicle that is dispatched by the second processor based on an automated evaluation of the information associated with the event. The second processor, which can be, for example, a part of a server computer, may evaluate the information in order to identify an assistance vehicle having equipment for providing the assistance service. In an example scenario, the disabled vehicle and/or the assistance vehicle can be an autonomous vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a difference in performance for a software program processing input data for multiple threads based on different termination time periods for handling an exception. In some aspects, the system receives input data and corresponding performance data for multiple threads with respect to a first termination time period for terminating the thread when an exception is detected. The system processes the input data to generate corresponding performance data for the multiple threads with respect to a second termination time period for terminating the thread when the exception is detected. The system determines a difference in performance for a particular thread based on performance data with respect to the first termination time period and corresponding performance data with respect to the second termination time period.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing name-based routing through networks. In various embodiments, a broker manager in each of a plurality of networks may receive a subscription request for a network device from a client device, each device being locally accessible or disposed in an upstream or downstream network. The broker manager uses its client broker to communicate with a locally accessible client device, and uses its mediator broker (and, sometimes, an intermediate device(s)) to communicate with a locally accessible network device. The broker manager otherwise uses its messaging brokers to communicate with control channels of one or more networks. Once subscription with the network device has been established, any commands and responses between the client device and the network device may be routed over pub/sub channels via the broker managers and their brokers using name-based routing, without routing based on IP address of the network device.

Abstract: It is a continuing goal to reduce the amount of sludge produced in a biorefinery while also improving oil quality and water quality. In one aspect, an exemplary method of minimizing sludge from biorefineries includes the steps of feeding a source feedstock into a degumming centrifuge, where the source feedstock is separated into wet oil and a primary sludge stream, and conveying a portion of the primary sludge stream to a three-phase centrifuge. At the three-phase centrifuge, the portion of the primary sludge stream is separated into recovered centrifuge oil, which is retrieved; centrifuged water, which is conveyed to a wastewater treatment plant; and centrifuged sludge. The remainder of the primary sludge stream is conveyed to a gravity separator, where the remainder of the primary sludge stream is separated into recovered oil and residual sludge. The residual oil is retrieved from the gravity separator.

Abstract: During operation, an electronic device may receive, associated with a computer, a packet or a frame that includes a dynamic power reset pattern, where the dynamic power reset pattern specifies temporal pattern of power resets. Then, the electronic device may detect multiple power resets, where a given detected power reset in the detected power resets involves activation of a power reset button in the electronic device. Moreover, the electronic device may compute a detected power reset pattern, where the detected power reset pattern includes a detected temporal pattern of detected power resets. Next, the electronic device may compare the dynamic power reset pattern and the detected power reset pattern. Furthermore, based at least in part on a result of the comparison, the electronic device may at least selectively provide, to the computer, the result of the comparison.

Abstract: Each electron transport chain complex has different wavelengths at which there is peak absorption of the light. Methods described herein apply light at defined ranges of wavelengths to a patient's skin, targeting each complex of the electron transport chain at its peak absorption, to increase the activity of the respective complex. This results in improved oxidative phosphorylation and mitochondrial function in the area treated. Complexes I and II are treated with violet-blue (400-490 nm) light. Complex I is treated with green (495-570 nm) light. Complex IV is treated with red (620-700 nm) light. To achieve optimal oxidative phosphorylation all three colors are applied to the treatment area, simultaneously or non-simultaneously. The light energy can be applied using a single device that can emit all three wavelengths, or multiple devices that emit a subset of the desired wavelengths.
