Abstract: A method includes selecting, by a processing module, a drive-sense circuit to be a transmit drive-sense circuit at different times. At each time of the different times, the method further includes providing, by the processing module, a reference signal having a first frequency to the selected transmit drive-sense circuit, transmitting, by the selected transmit drive-sense circuit, an electrode signal to a corresponding selected test container electrode of a test container of a test container array of a test system and generating, by other drive-sense circuits, a set of sensed signals. The test container contains a content. The method further includes interpreting a plurality of sets of sensed signals as a plurality of impedance values and generating an impedance map based on the plurality of impedance values and with respect to positioning of the set of test container electrodes. The impedance map is representative of electrical characteristics of the content.

Abstract: An acoustic apparatus and method for using a combination of low-frequency and high-frequency vibration of dried food, grain being an example, such that there are a large number of collisions among the individual grain particles for destroying microorganisms that reside on the surface or just below the surface of the grain, are described. Embodiments of the invention permit bulk and continuous processing of the food. It is expected that such collisions do not produce any chemical changes in the food, nor should it have any adverse effects on the taste thereof. Embodiments of the apparatus are applicable to destruction of airborne microorganisms.

  • Publication number: 20250016495
Abstract: An impedance-tuned microphone tunnel for an electronic device is disclosed. The impedance-tuned microphone tunnel includes a ring-like structure having a central opening positioned within a microphone tunnel of an electronic device. The central opening of the ring-like structure has a diameter that is smaller than diameters of other central openings within the microphone tunnel. The ring-like structure may be used to tune an impedance of the microphone tunnel by varying the diameter of the central opening. In this way, the impedance of the microphone tunnel may be tuned to a frequency response target to reduce a resonant peak of the microphone tunnel. The ring-like structure may be coated with a non-stick material, such as with polyethylene terephthalate (PET), biaxially orientated polyethylene terephthalate (BoPET), polyimide (PI), and the like.

  • Patent number: 12188181
Abstract: Processes disclosed are capable of converting biomass into high-crystallinity nanocellulose with low mechanical energy input. In some variations, the process includes fractionating biomass with sulfur dioxide or a sulfite compound and water, to generate cellulose-rich solids and a liquid containing hemicellulose and lignin; and mechanically treating the cellulose-rich solids to form nanofibrils and/or nanocrystals. The total mechanical energy may be less than 500 kilowatt-hours per ton. The crystallinity of the nanocellulose material may be 80% or higher, translating into good reinforcing properties for composites. The nanocellulose material may include nanofibrillated cellulose, nanocrystalline cellulose, or both. In some embodiments, the nanocellulose material is hydrophobic via deposition of some lignin onto the cellulose surface. Optionally, sugars derived from amorphous cellulose and hemicellulose may be separately fermented, such as to monomers for various polymers.
