Publication number: 20200225321Abstract: Systems and methods for training and using machine learning models to classify vehicles from highway radar systems are provided. The training systems may use auxiliary radar processing to separate events by lane, length, and/or speed, and then use separate event data groups pooled from similar or proximate lanes, lengths, and/or speeds to train multiple models. At estimation time, incoming events may be grouped using similar groupings as those used during training to select which model to use. An incoming event may be applied to the neural network operations of the selected model to generate an estimate. Generating an estimate may involve successive applications of multiple linear convolutions and other steps along varying or alternating dimensions of the in-process data.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2019Publication date: July 16, 2020Applicant: Image Sensing Systems, Inc.Inventors: Ezekiel KRUGLICK, Michael Jaques, Seth Anderson, James Cikanek, Zachary Pearson, Randall Johnson, Aaron Becker, Levi Remily, Saad Bedros

Publication number: 20200227917Abstract: A reactive power system comprises a plurality of electrical capacitor banks, with each electrical capacitor bank electrically connected in series with an electrical switch. The electrical switches may be electrically connected to a system such as, for example, an electrical induction motor starter system. A controller is coupled with the motor starter system and each of the electrical switches. The controller, in response to receiving a signal from the motor starter system, determines which of the plurality of electrical capacitor banks from which electrical power should be provided for the motor starter system. For the determined or identified electrical capacitor bank(s), the controller identifies the corresponding electrical switch(es) and communicates a signal to close the switch(es). Closing the switches results in the capacitors in the corresponding electrical capacitor banks to be electrically connected to the motor starter system and to provide current to the motor starter system.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2020Publication date: July 16, 2020Applicant: Northeast Power Systems, Inc.Inventors: Paul B. Publication number: 20200222453Abstract: Modified hydrophilic carbon clusters (HCCs), poly(ethylene glycol)-hydrophilic carbon clusters (PEG-HCCs) and similarly structured materials like graphene quantum dots (GQDs), PEGylated GQDs, small molecule antioxidants, and PEGylated small molecule antioxidants. These materials have been modified with an iron chelating moiety, deferoxamine, or a similar chelating moiety. By exploiting common binding sites, the carbon nanostructure facilitates intracellular transport including in mitochondria, reduces oxidative breakdown of the chelator moiety prior to treatment, and reduces both the cause and consequences of metal induced oxidative stress within the body thus providing a novel form of therapy for a range of oxidative and metal-related toxicities. Graphenic materials can be used for the treatment of acute and chronic mitochondrial electron transport chain dysfunction.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2018Publication date: July 16, 2020Applicants: WILLIAM MARSH RICE UNIVERSITY, BOARD OF REGENTS, THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SYSTEM, BAYLOR COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, HOUSTON METHODIST RESEARCH INSTITUTE, THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENTInventors: James M. Patent number: 10712310Abstract: The present invention introduces a protein/peptide quantification method based on near infrared spectral imaging of protein gel bands obtained from gel electrophoresis methodologies. Spectral imaging is a fast and reliable method that is simple to use and easily applicable to several procedures. When proteins are separated through gel electrophoresis, the gel is imaged using a near infrared spectrometer and a standard curve is used to calculate the protein/peptide content based on its relative near infrared absorbance to standard proteins. Compared to other protein quantification techniques, the methods of the present invention quantifies the proteins separated by gel electrophoresis without the need for contrast reagents or for purifying protein out of the gel, shortening the processing time, reducing the number of steps involved, and eliminating the need for additional chemicals.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2017Date of Patent: July 14, 2020Assignee: TEMPLE UNIVERSITY—OF THE COMMONWEALTH SYSTEM OF HIGHER EDUCATIONInventors: Nancy Pleshko, Arash Hanifi
