  • Patent number: 8411950
Abstract: According to one embodiment there is provided a method of selecting a plurality of M atlases from among a larger group of N candidate atlases to form a multi-atlas data set to be used for computer automated segmentation of novel image data sets to mark objects of interest therein. A set of candidate atlases is used containing a reference image data set and segmentation data. Each of the candidate atlases is segmented against the others in a leave-one-out strategy, in which the candidate atlases are used as training data for each other. For each candidate atlas in turn, the following is carried out: registering; segmenting; computing an overlap; computing a value of the similarity measure for each of the registrations; and obtaining a set of regression parameters by performing a regression with the similarity measure being the independent variable and the overlap being the dependent variable.

  • Patent number: 8412810
Abstract: A system is provided to provision and manage cloud-based clustered application deployment. In one example embodiment, a cloud-based clustered application deployment uses a three tier topology that includes a load balancing tier, an application tier, and a database tier. Each tier comprises a set of nodes, where each node is implemented using a virtual instance of a machine running within a public virtualization space, such as, e.g., the virtualization space provided by Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) service. A controller is provided to enforce sequential start sequence of a cluster using an asynchronous messaging system that provides notifications to cluster nodes as the individual nodes of the cluster become available. This messaging system is also used when the size of the cluster is increased or decreased.

  • Patent number: 8413142
Abstract: Storage optimization selection for virtual disks of a virtualization environment, where the storage optimization can be selected based in part on the disk type of a virtual disk included in a virtual machine. The disk type of the virtual disk can be discovered by the virtualization environment which queries a database within the virtualization environment for metadata associated with the virtual disk. The metadata can be created when a virtual desktop infrastructure creates the virtual disk, and a virtual machine template that includes the at least one virtual disk. The virtual disk can be modified to either include or be associated with the metadata that describes a disk type of the virtual disk. Upon executing the virtual machine that includes the modified virtual disk, a storage subsystem of the virtualization environment can obtain the metadata of the virtual disk to discover the disk type of the virtual disk.

  • Patent number: 8413036
Abstract: Control circuitry is coupled between an error event output and a data input of a pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) checker. The control circuitry is configured to switch between a first operating state in which a received PRBS signal is applied to the data input of the PRBS checker and a second operating state in which an error signal is applied to the data input of the PRBS checker, responsive to detection of a designated condition of the PRBS checker. In an illustrative embodiment, the designated condition is an end-of-test condition indicating that the PRBS checker has completed a test involving the received PRBS signal.

  • Publication number: 20130074341
Abstract: When manufacturing a disk valve having a ring-shaped elastic seal member fixed to one side thereof for use in a cylinder type hydraulic shock absorber, a disk valve blanked from a plate material is set on a bottom of a lower mold member that is curved to be convex on one side. Mold clamping is performed to form a cavity by a cylindrical mold part and to press the disk valve with a press part to deform the disk valve into a shape that is convex on one side. In this state, a rubber material is filled into the cavity through a passage and vulcanized and cured to mold and fix an elastic seal member to the disk valve. At this time, the disk valve is deformed in a direction in which the curvature reduces by shrinkage of the rubber material. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce variations in flatness of the disk valve and hence possible to obtain stable damping force characteristics.
