Patent number: 7811607Abstract: The present relates to an autologous bioadhesive sealant composition or fibrin glue prepared by a two-phase method, wherein all of the blood components for the bioadhesive sealant are derived from a patient to whom the bioadhesive sealant will be applied. A platelet rich plasma and a platelet poor plasma are formed by centrifuging a quantity of anticoagulated whole blood that was previously drawn from the patient. In one embodiment, the platelet rich plasma is divided into two portions. In phase one, a compound that reverses the effect of the anticoagulant is added to the first portion and a clot is allowed to form. The clot is then triturated, and the resulting serum containing autologous thrombin is collected. In phase two, the serum obtained from phase one is mixed with the second portion of the platelet rich plasma to form the bioadhesive sealant of the present invention.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2004Date of Patent: October 12, 2010Assignee: Arteriocyte Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Robert F. Patent number: 7813694Abstract: A secondary satellite radio or broadcast channel is used to broadcast advertisement clips (e.g., audio clips) to a receiver for subsequent decoding and playback. The receiver is configured for different tiers of service, e.g., one that delivers substantially advertising-free content and another that delivers content that includes more significant amounts of advertising. The content delivered to both is the same content; however, for the service tier that includes more advertising, the advertisements broadcast on the secondary channel are interleaved into the content, preferably in such a way that the continuity of the content being delivered is not compromised.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2008Date of Patent: October 12, 2010Assignee: Agere Systems Inc.Inventors: David A Fishman, Raymond K Jones, Eric Zhong

Method and apparatus providing rapid end-to-end failover in a packet switched communications network
Patent number: 7813263Abstract: A hardware-based failover scheme enabling rapid end-to-end recovery is provided. Hardware logic periodically generates, transmits, receives, and processes heartbeat packets, sent from one end of the communications network to another, and then returned back. If a communications network node or communications link failure is being experienced along the transport path, then the hardware logic rapidly swaps the affected traffic conveyed to a pre-established backup transport path, typically within microseconds. Advantages are derived from the rapid failover effected end-to-end which enables continued delivery of provisioned communications services improving the resiliency and/or availability of a communications network.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2004Date of Patent: October 12, 2010Assignee: Conexant Systems, Inc.Inventors: Rong-Feng Chang, Eric Lin, Craig Barrack -
Patent number: 7813478Abstract: One provides (101 and 102) two or more X-ray sources (202 and 204) that are independent and discrete from one another. By one approach, these X-ray sources emit corresponding X-rays (203 and 205) using different voltage levels. In particular, these voltage levels can be sufficiently different from one another to readily permit different elements as comprise an object (201) being examined to be distinguished from one another. These X-rays are then emitted (106) from these sources and towards an object to be examined while causing relative motion (207) between such sources on the one hand and the object on the other.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2007Date of Patent: October 12, 2010Assignee: Varian Medical Systems, Inc.Inventor: David Nisius
