Abstract: A paper clearing mode is provided in a printing device such as a copier or printer to automatically eject stopped sheets of paper after the jammed paper is manually cleared. The printing device indicates on a display panel only the location(s) of the jammed paper, i.e., the jam location that triggered the print engine to stop printing. The display does not indicate to the user the locations of other sheets of paper that are stopped along the paper transport path but not jammed. Following the displayed instruction, the user manually clears the jammed paper, but does not clear the stopped sheets. After the jammed sheet is cleared, the printing device automatically discharges the stopped sheets from the paper path as a part of the jam recovery process.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing perforated composite structures, such as acoustic skins suitable for aircraft engine nacelle components. The process includes placing at least one mat member, a non-impregnated fabric member, and a pad member on a tool surface so that pins disposed on the mat member project through the fabric member to define holes therein, the fabric member is between the mat and pad members, and the mat, fabric and pad members yield a non-impregnated stack that conforms to the tool surface. The fabric member is then infused with a resin to yield a resin-impregnated fabric and the resin within the resin-impregnated fabric is partially cured, after which the partially-cured resin-impregnated fabric is removed from the tool surface and from between the mat and pad members. A post cure of the partially-cured resin-impregnated fabric can then be performed to yield the composite structure with the holes.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for controlling the deployment of a towline connecting a mooring craft to an ejected object comprising the steps of monitoring velocity to determine when a point for optimum braking has been achieved and then engaging a brake system to retard deployment of the towline, a DC motor augments and controls the brake system. The DC motor further controls the retrieval of the object. A cutter mechanism uses a first blade to grip the towing cable to maintain tension thereon as a second blade cuts the cable. A spring biased boom in combination with spring biased fins on the ejected object rapidly deploys the object from its storage housing. A locking mechanism secures the deployment mechanism in a stable locked position upon the object reaching its fully extended position.
