Abstract: A safety signal is sent to a relay coupled to a plurality of power leads of a motor wherein a default state of the relay is to short the plurality of power leads together and wherein the safety signal maintains the relay in an open state. The safety signal to the relay is deasserted in response to a determination that an unsafe condition has occurred.
Abstract: A matched array technology system and method for displaying in a two-dimensional array the structured interaction between different parameters of an aircraft flight. Specific applications effectively support improved flight safety and greater fuel efficiency. Proxy values of flight metrics are defined and scaled so the axes of the array contain corresponding indicators resulting in a matched array and an embedded, unique alignment vector showing the relationships between different flight variables. The flight alignment system may be used with flight data that contain discontinuities and nonlinear reversions. Wherever values intersect, flight alignment system indicators can depict proximity to the alignment vector, as well as the direction and extent of adjustments to either or both selected flight metrics to achieve and maintain controlled flight.

The exercise machine comprises a cable coupled to the tension generating device via the arm.
Abstract: A radially flexible connection joint for a gas turbine engine includes an exhaust manifold flange operatively coupling an exhaust cylinder to an exhaust manifold of the gas turbine engine. The exhaust cylinder includes a cylindrical flange that extends radially outwardly from a rotation axis of the gas turbine. The cylindrical flange defines a downstream axial face. The exhaust manifold is positioned downstream from the exhaust cylinder. The exhaust manifold includes an upstream edge. The exhaust cylinder and the exhaust manifold are substantially coaxial with the rotation axis of the gas turbine. The exhaust manifold flange has a bellows portion that extends radially between the cylindrical flange of the exhaust cylinder and the upstream edge of the exhaust manifold. The bellows portion permits relative radial motion of the exhaust cylinder and the exhaust manifold.

Abstract: A deployment ramp for helping to direct a curtain airbag to deploy inboard of a trim piece on a side structure of a vehicle includes a deployment flap for directing the curtain airbag to deploy inboard of the trim piece and a mounting portion configured to receive a fastener for connecting the deployment ramp and the curtain airbag to the vehicle. The mounting portion includes a pair of mounting tabs. Each mounting tab is configured to be installed in a corresponding sleeve in the curtain airbag to connect the deployment ramp to the curtain airbag. The mounting portion is configured so that installing both mounting tabs in their corresponding sleeves requires the application of external manipulating forces to the mounting portion in order to bend and/or deflect in order to overcome an interference between the mounting portion and the curtain airbag.
Abstract: A tie rod including a first tie rod part and a second tie rod part of plastic material, and a joint providing a length-adjustable connection between the first and second tie rod parts is provided. The joint includes a first and a second series of ribs made on the first and second tie rod parts, respectively. The first series of ribs is capable of engaging with the second series of ribs to define a relative longitudinal position of the first and second tie rod parts. The joint further includes a clip hinged to the first tie rod part and carrying the first series of ribs, the clip being foldable to snap onto the first tie rod part to lock an end of the second tie rod part within a seat of the first tie rod part.
Abstract: A system and method for actively compensating excessive noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in a vehicle front suspension is provided. The method includes sensing a vibration in the vehicle front suspension; generating an input signal representing the vibration in the vehicle front suspension; filtering the input signal using a bandpass filter; and calculating a compensation signal using a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. The method also includes generating a compensation torque, based on the compensation signal, by an electric power steering (EPS) system motor, with the motor coupled to the vehicle front suspension. Method steps for enabling and disabling the active compensation system are also provided. The active compensation is enabled in response to a turn-on criteria being satisfied. The turn-on criteria may include suspension vibration above a threshold, and the suspension vibration being not caused by driver input.
Abstract: A chip testing apparatus including a chip testing machine, a temperature testing device, and a lid is provided. The chip testing machine includes a substrate and a plurality of chip testing sockets. Each of the chip testing sockets is disposed on the substrate and configured to carry a chip under test. The temperature adjusting device is disposed on the chip testing machine, and the lid covers the temperature adjusting device and the chip testing sockets. Abstract: An x-ray mass flow rate sensor uses a low density polymer pipe, an x-ray source, and an x-ray detector. The polymer pipe has a low density (less than 2.8 SG) and a high pressure rating (greater than 5 ksi). By using a low density polymer pipe, the sensor is able to use an x-ray source that does not require a linear accelerator and is less than or equal to 450 kV. The x-ray source and the x-ray detector are mounted on opposite sides of the polymer pipe to form a detection area that passes through the polymer pipe. A real-time calibration of the sensor is performed by detecting gray level values in a calibration region of the detection area for two reference materials placed in the detection area. The sensor may additionally include a mechanical flow rate sensor with a plurality of pistons with springs of varying spring constants.
