  • Patent number: 11631308
Abstract: In an optical fiber monitoring system which detects physical disturbance or other parameters such as temperature or strain of a fiber where a monitor signal is transmitted along the optical fiber and analyzed to detect changes which are indicative of an event, a method is provided for periodically checking proper operation of the optical fiber monitoring system. :A fiber disturbance actuator periodically causes a pattern of disturbances of a portion of the fiber at a predetermined location thereon where the disturbance is characteristic of the event to be monitored. The monitor signal is analyzed to detect the pattern of changes and in the event that expected changes are not detected, a warning is issued that the intrusion detection system is not properly operating.

  • Patent number: 11628940
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for operating a gliding parachute/kite. The gliding parachute/kite has a wing with a flexible material, and a set of suspension lines adapted for coupling a load to the wing, such that the coupling is configurable in any one of a plurality of possible states based on relative lengths of the suspension lines. In some implementations, the possible states include a first state enabling gliding in a first direction, and a second state enabling gliding in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction. Reversing direction is possible with the first and second states. Additionally, or alternatively, the possible states include a spinning state enabling spinning of the gliding parachute/kite. Adjusting a rate of decent is possible with the spinning. Reversing direction and/or spinning operations can be used to improve control of trajectory.

  • Publication number: 20230111808
Abstract: A system and method for detecting multiple incidents in a set of flow meter units attached to a set of water consuming units. A plurality of uniquely identified flow meter units are operatively connected to a central control unit. The control unit is programmable to send alerts based on leaking incident status of particular flow meter units so that a responder may receive the alert and timely address the alert. The central control receives and stores data from the multiple flow meter units, including volumetric flow, time, and status and location of each alert. A method of detecting leaking in a building having multiple separate units, each unit having a unit water supply, includes placing a specially configured controller having a flow meter and automatic shut-off valve in each unit of the building. Leak sensors are positioned in water-leak risk areas wherein the controller communicates with both the flow meter and the sensors. A communication is established in between the controller and the sensors.

  • Publication number: 20230116162
Abstract: A strain wave gearing has a wave generator provided with a plurality of rollers mounted between an ellipsoidal outer peripheral surface of a plug and an inner peripheral surface of an externally toothed gear. The plug is formed with recesses along the ellipsoidal outer peripheral surface. The recesses open in a first end surface of the plug facing toward a diaphragm of the externally toothed gear. The radial rigidity of the plug is relatively low in the side having the first end surface in the direction of a plug axis. When viewed along the direction of the plug axis, the respective rollers can be brought into linear contact with the inner peripheral surface of the externally toothed gear at positions on the long axis (Lmax) of the elliptically-flexed externally toothed gear, so as not to occur one-sided contact state.

Abstract: A processor includes request issuing units issuing an access request to a storage, a data array including banks holding sub data divided from data read from the storage based on the access request, a switch to transfer the access request to one of the banks, and first and second determination units. The first determination unit determines a cache hit when a tag address included in the access address matches a tag address held therein in correspondence with an index address included in the access address. The second determination unit determines a cache hit when identification information corresponding to a first tag address included in the access address and a second tag address included in the access address, match identification information and second tag address held therein. A cache controller makes access to the data array or storage, based on a determination result of the first or second determination unit.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a computer assistant for a surgeon with a graphical representation of a dynamic knee score for a knee surgery. A processor receives computer tomography data of a current patient's knee and user input from the surgeon, the user input comprises an identifier of a knee implant. The processor then retrieves multiple machine learning model parameters indicative of a machine learning performed on historical patient records. For multiple values of a rotation of the tibial component and a slope of the tibial component the processor configures a post-operative kinematic model performs a kinematic simulation and estimates a current patient outcome by applying the machine learning model. Finally, the processor generates a shaded surface spanning the multiple values of a rotation of the tibial component and a slope of the tibial component on a user interface to graphically represent the estimated current patient outcome for each of the rotation and slope.
