  • Patent number: 11383040
Abstract: An apparatus for a firing mechanism for use in an injection device and including: a rear cap having an elongate member extending axially forwards when installed within the injection device; a plunger releasably connected, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member and, upon release of the connection to the elongate member, axially displaceable in a forward direction; and a plunger driver to drive the plunger axially forwards upon release of the connection to the elongate member, wherein the plunger and the rear cap define an axial length of the assembly, which in turn determines a start position of a forward end of the plunger before release of the connection to the elongate member, and wherein, during construction of the assembly, the plunger is releasably connectable, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member at one of a plurality of positions for controlling the axial length of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 11376364
Abstract: Disclosed is an auto-injection apparatus for receiving a syringe, including: an outer casing enclosing a drive assembly and a syringe carrier configured to hold a barrel of the syringe, the syringe carrier being forward of the drive assembly and having stowed and delivery positions; an interlock extending between the syringe carrier and a syringe carrier housing at least partially surrounding the syringe carrier, the interlock preventing forward motion of the syringe carrier under the influence of an insertion actuator whilst in the stowed position. The drive assembly includes the insertion actuator for inserting a needle of the syringe into an injection site and a delivery actuator for driving a plunger into a barrel of the syringe which contains a substance for injection. The syringe carrier includes an interlock release mechanism which is configured to release the interlock such that the insertion actuator drives the syringe carrier forward.

  • Patent number: 11369745
Abstract: Disclosed is an injection device including a body for receiving a syringe, a firing mechanism including a reaction component, a plunger configured to be axially displaced in a forward direction relative to the reaction component, and a drive spring located between the reaction component and the plunger for driving the plunger forwards upon activation of the injection device, wherein the reaction component provides a reaction surface for the drive spring. The device further includes a locking mechanism for locking the reaction component in a first axial position within the body, the locking mechanism being configured to release the reaction component upon a predefined forward movement of the plunger thereby allowing the reaction component to be driven in a rearward axial direction by the drive spring until it impacts against the body or a component secured to the body to thereby emit an audible indication of an end of dose.

  • Patent number: 11364343
Abstract: An autoinjector including a plunger for engaging with the bung, a collar located around the plunger, an insertion spring biasing the collar relative to the rear of the device, and a delivery spring biasing the plunger relative to the collar. The device further includes a stop feature defining the limit of axial movement of the syringe body through the housing, and a collar release mechanism for releasing the collar from the rear of the device to commence insertion and a plunger release mechanism for releasing the plunger from the collar while substantially preventing rearward axial movement of the collar, following insertion, to commence delivery of the medicament. Following release of the plunger from the collar, the plunger is configured to move axially and rotationally relative to the collar, the direction of rotation being changed one or more times with axial movement of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 11364342
Abstract: An injection device for delivering a dose of medicament from a syringe (5), the injection device comprising a housing (10), a plunger (210) moveably mounted within the housing (10), an actuation mechanism (200), a trigger mechanism (40), and a plunger velocity regulator. The actuation (mechanism (100) is arranged to provide a forward biasing force to urge the plunger (210) forward in use to express a dose of medicament, and the trigger mechanism (40) is arranged to releasably hold the plunger (210) against the force of the actuation mechanism (200). The plunger velocity regulator comprises a cam surface (262) associated with the housing, and a cam member (252) associated with the plunger (210) and arranged to engage the cam surface (262) during actuation movement of the plunger (210) such that axial movement of the plunger (210) relative to the housing (10) causes relative rotational movement of the cam member (252) which limits the forward velocity of the plunger movement.

  • Patent number: 11235104
Abstract: A medicament delivery device (100; 300; 400) comprises a chassis (124), a drive element (166) for driving a stopper (22) to expel the medicament through a cannula (144). A carrier (126) is arranged for movement with respect to the chassis (124). Insertion means (130, 202) biases the carrier (126) in an insertion direction. A control part (132) is biased for rotation with respect to the carrier (126). A locking element (176) prevents rotation of the control part (132) in an initial state. The locking element (176) is coupled to the drive element (166) such that the control part (132) is released for rotation when the drive element (166) reaches an activation position during a delivery stroke. Rotation of the control part (132) through a predetermined angle causes decoupling of the insertion means (130, 202) from the carrier (126) to allow movement of the carrier (126) in a retraction direction after the end of the delivery stroke.
