Abstract: One or more issue web rolls are transferred from the core shaft on which they are carried by an apparatus that includes a roll change tube that is moved into coaxial alignment with one end of the core shaft and engages the end of the shaft to support it. A pusher device pushes the tissue web rolls from the core shaft onto the roll change tube. The roll change tube is then pivoted to move the roll change tube away from the core shaft to position the tissue web rolls for delivery to a downstream process, and simultaneously a core change tube is moved into coaxial alignment with the core shaft so that new cores can be pushed from the core change tube onto the core shaft.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a device for changing the natural frequency of a nip roll construction in a paper or board machine so that the rigidity of one or several loading elements, for example loading cylinder or loading beam, in the nip roll construction is varied. Abstract: A bracket of graphite epoxy has a cylindrical portion which hingedly fits within a dovetail groove extending in the machine direction across the injection face of a papermaking headbox. The bracket has downstream portions defining a vane-receiving slot which receives a plastic sheet vane which is held by screws. The bracket is laid up of carbon fibers oriented so that the coefficient of thermal expansion matches the steel from which the headbox is manufactured. A two-part metal mold is used to define the underside and the bead portion of the bracket. A rubber gasket of Shore 70 material forms the center of the bead portion about which prepregs of graphite cloth are wrapped. A removable polytetrafluoroethylene insert defines the slot during molding. The assembly is placed under a vacuum bag and heated, causing the rubber gasket to expand and press the overlying graphite prepregs against the sides of the mold.

The bearing members (21, 31) are fitted in bearing housings (20, 30), and a bending mechanism (40, 50, 60) is fitted in the support construction (15, 20, 30, 100), by which a torque is applied that bends the body (11) of the beam. The beam may support doctor blades, various measurement devices, induction devices, and coating devices.
Abstract: Composite panels and pulp, and paper products of the pulp, are produced from Arundo donax. In the fabrication of the composite panels, Arundo donax is comminuted to a suitable size, combined with a binder, and consolidated into panels that meet standards for construction and/or furniture grade panels. The Arundo donax particulates may be combined with wood particulates to produce a mixed furnish that can be used in the preparation of composite panels. Comminuted Arundo donax is treated, in conventional pulping processes, to produce a high tensile strength pulp that can be used in the production of paper. The pulp has a lighter color than wood pulp, and thereby uses less bleaching chemicals to achieve a desired whiteness. The pulp can be combined with wood pulp to produce a variety of products.
