Abstract: An electronic system for presenting information relating to products on offer at a place of sale comprises: a central unit; a mass memory containing image sequences respectively associated with products belonging to a given group from amongst the products on offer at the place of sale; a display device; and a bar code or other reader to which a particular item on sale can be presented. The central unit includes a comparator for comparing a product code delivered by a reader with a series of product codes corresponding respectively to the products in the group. The central unit causes the sequence of images associated with the presented item to be run when the product code is contained in the series of product codes, and otherwise it displays a non-correspondence message. The system is particularly applicable to promoting perfumery.
Abstract: Extracts of the plant Commiphora mukul are used as pigmenting agents and melanocyte culture agents, and for the manufacture of cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions. Particularly preferred are extracts of the formula IIa, designated Commipherol, and abstracts of the formula IIb designated Commipherin.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and Apparatus for determining the color of a foundation makeup comprising a device for measuring the color of the skin on an arm of a person computing and determining the skin color measured and comparing same with a data base containing a palette of reference foundation colors substantially covering a representative sample of a population of given individuals, the data base containing at least the color of the skin for each individual and a reference foundation color associated with one or more of the skin colors in the data base; and determining from the data base the foundation color associated with the skin color to reproduce the skin color in the data base corresponding to the measured skin color of a person.
Abstract: The invention relates to a new derivative of caffeic acid. This new derivative has the formula I below: ##STR1## in which one or more R independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl group, in particular methyl, and an acyl group, in particular a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 group, in particular acetyl. This new derivative called oraposide is particularly useful for the preparation of cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions, in particular dermatological compositions, as a result in particular of its activity against free radicals, inflammation and aging due to radiation exposure.
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of cucurbitine or extracts of Cucurbitaceae pips for the preparation of a cosmetic or pharmaceutical, in particular dermatological, composition having antiallergic activity, or for the preparation of cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions having a reduced risk of being allergenic.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cosmetic or a pharmaceutical composition, in particular a dermatological composition. The composition is characterized in that it comprises a cosmetically or pharmaceutically, and in particular dermatologically, effective quantity of an extract of a plant of genus Tephrosia, in particular an extract of the species Tephrosia purpurea. According to the invention, it has been discovered that the extract of the plant of genus Tephrosia is useful in preparing a cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and in particular dermatological composition, presenting body-slimming, pigmenting, anti-aging, or anti-inflammatory activity.

Abstract: The invention relates to products which are to be bound specifically to the membrane of a keratinocyte by means of a ligand-receptor bond. These products carry at least one ligand consisting of an oside residue selected from .alpha.-L-rhamnose, .alpha.-D-galactose and .alpha.-D-galactose-6-phosphate.By virtue of this specificity, it is possible to prepare cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions having an improved efficacy in particular, for example for regeneration of the epidermis, for the treatment of psoriasis or for renewed hair growth.
