  • Patent number: 8250967
Abstract: A servo for hydraulically operating a brake band of an automatic transmission includes a housing having a bore engaging portion for engaging an existing servo bore in a case of the automatic transmission and an external portion for positioning externally of the servo bore, the external portion of the housing including an interior bore. The servo also includes a piston disposed in the interior bore of the external portion of the housing for reciprocating movement, the piston being externally remote from the servo bore and having an outer diameter greater than an outer diameter of the servo bore. An actuator rod for engaging and operating the brake band of the automatic transmission is attached to the piston to reciprocate with the piston. The servo connects to existing hydraulic circuits within the servo bore to supply pressurized fluid for operating the servo.

  • Publication number: 20120214946
Abstract: A 10-50 g/d high strength polyethylene fiber and preparation method thereof are provided, which are in the high molecular material field. Said fiber is obtained by cross blend melt spinning method, and its strength is 10-50 g/d, its modulus is 400-2000 g/d. The material used by said cross blend melt spinning method is obtained by mixing low density polyethylene with molecular weight of 2/5-500,000 and super molecule weight polyethylene with molecular weight of 120-7000,000 in the proportion of 2-10:1. Flow modifier or diluent is not additionally added in the present invention, raw material consumption is low, extra high pressure is avoided, energy consumption and cost of production are low, technological process is simple, single line capacity is easily raised, and large scale industrial production can be realized.

  • Patent number: 8247080
Abstract: A coating structure including an outer coating comprising aluminum; and an interlayer disposed between a substrate and the outer coating is provided. The interlayer may include a rare earth metal, a transition metal, or a noble metal. The interlayer may have one or more property of being less responsive to halogen etching relative to the outer coating; having a coefficient of thermal expansion that is greater than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the substrate and less than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the outer coating or vice versa; having a color different from the color of the outer coating; having a electrical conductivity different from the electrical conductivity of the outer coating. A method of making is article is provided. The method may include securing an interlayer to a substrate surface, and securing an outer coating to a surface of the interlayer opposite the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20120208024
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of making metal oxide and mixed metal oxide particles. The method includes treating a mixture formed from a metal source, such as metal alkoxide, a surfactant, and a first alcohol in an aqueous media at a very high metal oxide yield. The mixture is reacted using a catalyst to form metal oxide particles having a desired particle size in said mixture. The method is particularly suitable for forming silica particles. The metal oxide particles can then be heat treated to form synthetic fused metal oxides such as, for example, synthetic fused silica.
