Abstract: A fitment tape machine for forming a roll of tape having fitments for use in a flexible pouch is provided. The machine includes a conveyor operable to feed a bottom sheet of material along an axis from upstream the conveyor to downstream the conveyor. A cold press having a head is disposed above the sheet of material and operable to engage the sheet of material so as to urge the head into the sheet of material and form a detent operable to hold a sidewall of a fitment. A fitment dispensing device disposed downstream the cold press is operable to insert a fitment into the detent. A top film dispenser, disposed downstream the fitment dispensing device is operable to apply a top film of material onto the fitment so as to place the fitment between the top film of material and the bottom sheet of material.

Abstract: A pouch and method of forming a pouch made of a laminate material is provided. The pouch includes a contoured side edge having crests and troughs in series with each other, the crests are spaced apart from each other so as to form troughs configured to receive the fingers of a user to facilitate the gripping of the pouch. The contours are further operable to prevent the formation of wrinkles along the edges of the pouch body. A method for forming a pouch and operable to prevent ketones from entering the pouch body is also provided.

Abstract: A multi-compartment flexible pouch with an insulated compartment and method of forming includes a pouch body formed from a panel of material, and the pouch body has at least one compartment for a product. An opening means for accessing the product is disposed in the pouch body. A first insulating compartment seal having a predetermined shape is applied to the pouch body and a second insulating compartment seal having a predetermined shape is applied to the pouch body and spaced a predetermined distance apart from the first seal to form the insulated compartment. The insulated compartment contains a pressurized gas and a surface temperature of the insulated compartment is less than a surface temperature of the product compartment after the pouch is heated.

Abstract: A flexible pouch having a printed wireless information tag thereon. The flexible pouch has a panel with at least one side seam, at least one inseam and a wireless information tag printed on the panel. The panel can have a foil layer included therewithin and an insulator layer between the panel and the wireless information tag. Also, the wireless information tag is printed with conductive ink.

Abstract: A method for forming a flexible pouch having a fitment, the method including the steps of sealing the bottom, top and one side of a material to form a pouch. The pouch is formed around a forming tube, leaving one side of the flexible pouch unsealed. A fitment is installed on the flexible pouch, either on the corner (45 degree angle) or on the top of the pouch. The product filled through the unsealed side of the flexible pouch while continuously moving the flexible pouch down the forming tube, the forming tube also continuously supplying product to fill the flexible pouch and sealing the unsealed side of the flexible pouch. An apparatus for forming a flexible pouch is provided having a forming tube. The forming tube is adapted to allow material to wrap around the forming tube to form a flexible pouch, the forming tube also operable to dispense product into the flexible pouch through an exit of the forming tube.

Abstract: Containers having a fitment have been used to store food product. Oftentimes the product contained within the container is easier for a user to consume if a utensil such as a spoon is used. The present disclosure is directed towards an assembly for mounting to a container. The assembly includes a fitment with a passage. The spoon is at least partially disposed within the passage of the fitment. The spoon may be attached to the fitment, and covered by a protective cover. The protective cover may include a first half and a second half The protective cover can be secured with a safety seal.

Abstract: A system for obtaining information from a flexible pouch having an information tag is provided. The system has a management platform, a brand/tag manager and a communication network that affords for an individual using a personal electronic device (PED) to interact with content related to the flexible pouch and/or product within the flexible pouch. The system also includes on-the-fly coding of the information tag as it is printed onto a flexible pouch, the on-the-fly coding being a function and/or analysis of past interactions by individuals viewing, purchasing and/or using flexible pouches with information tags.

Abstract: A flexible pouch assembly and fitment is disclosed for dispensing a fluid operable to be securely closed after use. The assembly includes a flexible pouch having an opening at the top of the pouch. A fitment is connected to the opening of the flexible pouch. The fitment includes a canoe portion which connects directly to the opening of the flexible pouch. The canoe portion is also directly connected and fluidly connected to a metering pump. The canoe portion is molded over a tube portion of the metering pump. The canoe portion is sealed to the opening of the flexible pouch. The fitment further includes a cap connected to the canoe portion. The cap includes an outlet fluidly connected to the metering pump. The cap includes a resealable configuration, such as a lid, allowing the user to reseal the pouch after use. The canoe and pump are a once piece configuration.

Abstract: A flexible pouch with a tube spout fitment and removable cap. The flexible pouch has a panel with an aperture and a tube spout fitment that extends through the aperture. The tube spout fitment has a first circumferential ridge with a first diameter and a second circumferential ridge with a second diameter. Also, the second diameter is larger than the first diameter. A dispensing cap is attached to the tube spout fitment. The dispensing cap has a first temporary snap position fitting over the first circumferential ridge of the tube spout fitment and a second permanent snap position fitting over the second circumferential ridge. In this manner, the dispensing cap can be temporarily attached to the pouch during storage, shipping and the like, removed prior to filling the flexible pouch with product, and then permanently attached after the pouch has been filled with product.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for packaging patties or other similarly shaped items into a flexible pouch. The method comprising the steps of stacking a plurality of patties by a stacker, the patties stacked on top of one another, lowering the plurality of patties into a flexible pouch, vacuuming the air out of the flexible pouch to seal the pouch, the vacuum creating an air tight seal and forming a pair of frangible or solid seals in the pouch, the frangible seals positioned adjacent to the plurality of patties. The apparatus for packaging patties into a flexible pouch, the apparatus comprising a stacker, a patty holder, a vacuum is further positioned adjacent to the patty holder, the vacuum operable to remove the air from the flexible pouch. A frangible seal creator is also provided operable to create a frangible seal on the flexible pouch.

Abstract: The flexible pouch includes a first outer panel and a second outer panel. The first panel and the second panel each having an outer peripheral edge and the first outer panel and the second outer panel connected at least partially at the outer peripheral edge of the first panel and at the outer peripheral edge of the second panel. A seal is disposed on at least a portion of an outer peripheral edge of the flexible pouch. A reinforcement is provided positioned adjacent to or on the seal of the flexible pouch operable to support the first outer panel and the second outer panel.

Abstract: A flexible pouch for packaging a product therein having a pouch panel formed of a material having a layer of polyethylene terephthalate, a layer of aluminum, a layer of nylon, and a layer of polyethylene. The layer of polyethylene terephthalate has a thickness of 12 to 15 microns, the layer aluminum has a thickness of 7 to 9 microns, the layer of nylon has a thickness of 12 to 18 microns, and the layer of polyethylene has a thickness of 70-200 microns.
