  • Patent number: 5134929
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing liquid from particles of compressible material includes feeding particles to two opposing press surfaces that are separated by a distance that decreases along a feeding direction wherein at least one of the press surfaces is formed of a number of parallel transfer elements and wherein each transfer element is connected to a corresponding pressing actuator. The sum of a surface area of each transfer element forms a total press surface area for one of the press surfaces. The transfer elements are reciprocated in a forward and backward motion along the conveying direction such that a total press surface area includes at any particular time a forward moving surface area that is larger than any backward moving surface area.

  • Patent number: 5078937
Abstract: A method for producing a blank of a slab-like product, in which method a fibrous material such as chips or the like is mixed with a binder material such glue, cement or the like, and the mixture is fed into a blank-forming apparatus. The method is implemented by feeding the mixture of fibrous and binder materials from the blank-forming apparatus to a conveyor or similar platform in order to form a blank, after which one or more layers of blank-separating material is dispersed layer by layer onto the blank, and finally a second blank is laid onto the layers of blank-separating material.

  • Patent number: 5074813
Abstract: Method and arrangement for the reduction of the resistance to rotation of the propeller (3) of a ship (1) going in ice when the ice increases the resistance to rotation of the propeller to a level higher than when sailing in open water. When the resistance to rotation increases, gas is passed to the propeller (3), and the supply of gas is adjusted when the resistance to rotation is changed. The supply of gas may be continual, but as a rule it is used only for short periods in order to correct the speed of rotation of the propeller to the appropriate level.

  • Patent number: 5063981
Abstract: Method and means of conveyance for solid material, f.ex. tree trunks (6) or bark, whereby the solid material is conveyed with parallel, oblong transfer elements (4) moving back and forth in transfer direction. A larger part of the surface of the transfer elements (4) is moving forward at a time than moving backward. The speed of the return motion of the transfer elements is higher than that of the feed motion of the transfer elements. Transfer elements (4) at sides of the conveyor have been inclined on their longitudinal axis so that they slope towards the center of the conveyor. In this way the friction force between the particles (6) of the material to be conveyed is increased and the friction force between the material (6) to be conveyed and the transfer elements (4) is decreased.

  • Patent number: 4927534
Abstract: A screen system intended for the screening of wood chips, comprising one or several screening faces (2,3) placed one above the other as well as a bottom face (4) placed underneath said screening faces. The screening faces (2,3) are connected to members (10) that produce the screening movement. The bottom face (4) is made of a flexible material and is displaceable relative its support structure (6) so that the bottom face is deformed to prevent the adherence of materials thereto. Most appropriately, the width of the bottom face (5) is larger than the distance between the support structures (6) placed at its sides, whereby the middle portion of the bottom face (5) is hanging down lower than its sides.

  • Patent number: 4842336
Abstract: Method and device for collecting objects pointing out of the bottom level of seas or corresponding water areas so that the objects are carried from the bottom by using waterflow through an intake opening of the collecting device moving on the bottom of the sea. The objects are removed from the bottom by a removing device. The lowermost part of the removing device moves at the same level with the bottom of the water area or above it. The most suitable way of removing the objects from the bottom is by using water spray, the flow power of which is controlled separately from the flow power of the water in the conveying channel.

  • Patent number: 4816092
Abstract: A procedure and a means for correcting the transversal profile of a chip, fibre or equivalent mat being formed on a conveyor belt, said chip mat being formed with the aid of one or several rolls, most appropriately rake rolls, provided above the conveyor belt, in which procedure the free space for the chip mat between the last roll and the conveyor belt is adjusted transversally to the conveyor belt. In the procedure of the invention, substantially at the last roll the height level of the conveyor belt is raised and lowered stripwise transversally to the conveyor belt in order to regulate the transversal profile of the chip mat.
