  • Patent number: 11141779
Abstract: With a method for detecting variables in an outlet of a metallurgical vessel, different variables in the outlet are detected or measured by at least one coil surrounding the outlet channel and/or an induction coil of an induction heater as a monitoring system, wherein the variables relate to the slag portion when pouring out the metal melt, wear condition of refractory parts in the outlet channel, the solidified metal melt, flow rate and/or plugging mass in the outlet channel. After evaluation, a closure element for the outlet is actuated, heating of the metal in the outlet channel is activated and/or renewal of the outlet channel is triggered. In this way, optimum operation in the pouring of metal melt out of a vessel is simply achieved, wherein occurrence of irregularities are detected during the entire pouring, and pouring out of slag can be successfully prevented at the end of the pouring.

  • Publication number: 20210268581
Abstract: Slide closure for a metallurgical vessel, with two compensation units I and II for equalizing overloads, which may result from the thermal extension and spreading of the fire-proof closure plate thicknesses conditional on manufacturing, and/or from the upper inner shell, wherein the inner shell can also be reduced during operation. The compensation unit I consists of a spring arrangement with fastening screws which can be moved away between the housing and a cover of the housing. The compensation unit II consists, for its part, of a spring arrangement with an insertion frame pressing against the lower closure plate, which insertion frame is fixed to the bottom of the housing with fastening screws.

  • Patent number: 10935320
Abstract: Method for determining the state of a fire-resistant lining of a vessel containing molten metal in particular in which maintenance data, production data, and wall thicknesses at least at locations with the highest degree of wear are measured or ascertained together with additional process parameters of at least one identical/similar vessel after the vessel has been used. The data is collected and stored in a data structure. A calculating model is generated from at least some of the measured or ascertained data or parameters, and the data or parameters are evaluated using the calculating model using calculations and subsequent analyses. Thus, related or integral ascertaining processes and subsequent analyses can be carried out, on the basis of which optimizations relating to both the vessel lining as well as the complete process of the molten metal in the vessel are achieved.

  • Patent number: 10857593
Abstract: Method and device for repairing the spout sleeve of a metallurgical vessel fitted securely within the refractory lining of the vessel in which the sleeve is repaired by applying mortar to the casting channel of the sleeve with a mortar dispenser inserted into the casting channel, which upon removing the mortar dispenser from the casting channel calibrates the latter over the entire length of the channel. The mortar dispenser is driven rotating coaxially to the casting channel during the mortar application and, after a defined time, is removed from the casting channel, still rotating. The method is particularly suitable for repairing the inner sleeve of a casting ladle with a slide closure adjoining the ladle spout, maintenance of which is automatically carried out in a maintenance station of the casting facility. Repair of the inner sleeve is also carried out automatically here during the maintenance of the slide closure.

  • Patent number: 10837704
Abstract: A method for repairing a refractory lining of a metallurgical vessel in the hot state. This repair takes place using a supplying apparatus. In addition, recording of at least the worn regions and monitoring of the repair are carried out by a monitoring device. Before, during and/or after the supplying of material, at least a partial region of the areas of the refractory lining of the vessel or the gunning jet is recorded photographically with visualization of the temperature ranges. This results in an evaluation with regard to different parameters such as properties, layer thickness and/or distribution of the supplied material. It has been demonstrated that visualization of the temperature ranges of the areas to be repaired and of the refractory material during supplying of material enables different parameters to be established very accurately, and as a result, optimal coating of the wall lining can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20200282456
Abstract: A sliding gate for a vessel containing molten metal is provided with a slide housing (1), a slide unit guided longitudinally therein and having a push rod (2), a mounting (5) and a linear drive (6), which is removably fastened in the latter and has a drive rod (4). This drive rod (4) can be connected to the push rod (2) of the slide unit by a coupling (3). The coupling (3) is designed in such a way that, when the linear drive (6) has been pushed into the mounting (5), it automatically couples by a movement of the drive rod (4) towards the slide unit, while it uncouples when the linear drive (6) is removed from the mounting (5), transversely in relation to the direction of movement of the drive rod (4). A locking device (7), which can be actuated by the linear drive (6) and interacts with the mounting (5) is provided here, by means of which the linear drive (6) after being pushed into the mounting (5) can be fixed in the latter and can be unlocked again before it is removed.

  • Patent number: 10471505
Abstract: Slide closure for a container containing molten metal includes a housing part that can be fastened to the container and a slider unit that can be displaced longitudinally relative to it, into which a fireproof plate can respectively be inserted. The slider unit is held by holding units fastened to the housing part perpendicular to the slider unit such that it can be displaced longitudinally. The holding units are individually fastened releaseably to the housing part such that in the braced state of the slide closure, they can be released from the housing part in almost every position of the slider unit. In addition, the housing part has walls running close to the plate in the longitudinal direction and projections that protrude to the side, in which walls bearings of the individual holding units can be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 10400294
Abstract: Device for inserting a refractory block into a taphole structure of a metallurgical vessel, in particular a basic oxygen furnace wherein the refractory block is carried by a mounting unit and has a proximate end introducable into the taphole. A distal end with locking elements, which can be coupled to a locking plate of the vessel, is disposed at the outside of the taphole of the vessel. The refractory block can be introduced into the taphole structure until the locking elements of the mounting unit can be attached to and coupled with the coupling head with a manipulator. This mounting unit can be uncoupled with the manipulator, when the refractory block is mortared and fixed in the lining, whereby the mounting unit can be decoupled and removed solely out of the taphole to enable refractory block replacement and gunning of refractory material from the inside of the furnace more easily.

  • Patent number: 10376954
Abstract: Method for automatically replacing the spout nozzle of a slide closure with a robot for manipulating the slide closure with an appropriate apparatus, the spout nozzle being able to be clamped against the slide plate of the slide closure by a carrying ring that can be released by turning. During the changing procedure, the carrying ring is turned with a defined torque, by means of which the new spout nozzle is clamped with a likewise defined tension force against the slide plate. In this way, operational reliability of the slide closure is guaranteed, independently of any tolerance and other deviations. The apparatus for implementing the method includes a gripping lance with clamping jaws for manipulating the spout nozzle and a gripping ring with catches for manipulating the carrying ring. The gripping ring can be actuated by a hydraulic rotation cylinder. A pneumatic cylinder is used to actuate the gripping lance.
