  • Publication number: 20180345364
Abstract: Slide closure unit on the spout of a metallurgical vessel, preferably a copper-anode furnace, includes a housing in which refractory closure plates, as well as at least one connecting refractory inner casing, are arranged. A removable induction heater is provided, having at least one induction coil surrounding the refractory inner casing outside of the housing. In this way, it is possible to constantly keep the melt located in the outlet channel of the spout sufficiently warm so that it does not freeze before and/or during the pouring of the melt, or that any frozen metal and/or slag can be melted in the spout.

  • Publication number: 20180347907
Abstract: Method for determining the state of a fire-resistant lining of a vessel containing molten metal in particular in which maintenance data, production data, and wall thicknesses at least at locations with the highest degree of wear are measured or ascertained together with additional process parameters of at least one identical/similar vessel after the vessel has been used. The data is collected and stored in a data structure. A calculating model is generated from at least some of the measured or ascertained data or parameters, and the data or parameters are evaluated using the calculating model using calculations and subsequent analyses. Thus, related or integral ascertaining processes and subsequent analyses can be carried out, on the basis of which optimizations relating to both the vessel lining as well as the complete process of the molten metal in the vessel are achieved.

  • Publication number: 20180209739
Abstract: A method relates in particular to the repair of a refractory lining of a metallurgical vessel (10) in the hot state. This repair takes place here by means of an supplying apparatus (15). In addition, recording of at least the worn regions and monitoring of the repair are carried out by means of a device (20). Before, during and/or after the supplying of at least a partial region of the areas (13) of the refractory lining (12) of the vessel (10) to be repaired or the gunning jet (18) is recorded photographically here with visualisation of the temperature ranges (26, 27, 28), and this results in an evaluation with regard to different parameters such as properties, layer thickness and/or distribution of the supplied material. It has been demonstrated that by means of this visualisation of the temperature ranges of the areas to be repaired and of the refractory material during supplying different parameters can be established very accurately, and as a result optimal coating of the wall lining can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 9889503
Abstract: The invention relates to a fireproof (refractory) ceramic impact pad (also called impact pot, German: Pralltopf), which is typically installed along the bottom of a vessel treating metallurgical melts at an area where the metal melt, poured into the vessel, normally hits the vessel bottom. Insofar the impact pot has the task to protect the refractory bottom of the metallurgical vessel (to reduce its wear) and/or to distribute the metal melt within the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20180029117
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to a device for repairing the spout sleeve (6) of a metallurgical vessel which is fitted securely within the refractory lining (4, 5) of the vessel (1). According to the invention the sleeve is repaired by applying mortar to the casting channel (7) of the sleeve (6) with a mortar dispenser (9) that can be inserted into the casting channel (7), which upon removing the mortar dispenser from the casting channel calibrates the latter over the entire length of the channel. The mortar dispenser (9) is driven rotating coaxially to the casting channel (7) during the mortar application and, after a defined time, is removed from the casting channel (7), still rotating. The method is particularly suitable for repairing the inner sleeve of a casting ladle with a slide closure adjoining the ladle spout, maintenance of which is automatically carried out in a maintenance station of the casting facility.

  • Publication number: 20180009028
Abstract: A slide closure (10) for a container containing molten metal is provided with a housing part (1) that can be fastened to the latter and a slider unit (2) that can be displaced longitudinally relative to it, into which a fireproof plate (4 or 5) can respectively be inserted. The slider unit (2) is held by a number of holding means (6a, 6b; 7a, 7b) fastened to the housing part (1) perpendicular to the slider unit such that it can be displaced longitudinally. The holding means (6a, 6b; 7a, 7b) are individually fastened releasably to the housing part (1) such that in the braced state of the slide closure (10) they can be released from the housing part (1) in almost every position of the slider unit (2). In the event of a breakdown opening of the latter is thus made possible without the holding means and/or other parts having to be destroyed.
