Abstract: Pressing device for a casting pipe at the spout of a metallurgical container, wherein the pressing device is provided with spring-loaded pressing elements that can be pressed against guide surfaces of a casting pipe. The casting pipe includes a tubular part and an upper plate. The guide surfaces are arranged on the underside of the plate on both sides of the tubular part and are directed downward at an angle. They form a plate cross-section that is tapered downward. The pressing elements are each provided with a head that is convexly curved in the adjustment direction of the casting pipe and can be pressed against a guide surface of the casting pipe, which is curved in the longitudinal direction of the pressing element or in the adjustment direction. Compressive forces exerted by the pressing pins are optimally transmitted, more toward the casting pipe opening and therefore acting more evenly.
Abstract: Stopper rod having an elongate body with an inlet at an upper first end and an outlet at a lower second end. The second end of the body defines a nose for insertion into a tundish outlet. A continuous axial bore extends through the body from the inlet in the first end to the outlet in the second end. A restrictor having an inlet, an outlet and a passageway therebetween is positioned in the axial bore such that the inlet of the restrictor is closer to the first end than the second end. A gas supply conduit is arranged to supply gas into the axial bore above the inlet of the restrictor.

Abstract: Nozzle for guiding molten metal flowing from a vessel into a mold, the nozzle having a conduit which is elongate along an axis which is orientated vertically during use. The nozzle has at least one upper inlet and at least two lower outlets with a flow divider disposed therebeween. Opposite sides of the flow divider define a lower wall of each lower outlet, and a recessed channel is provided in each of the opposite sides of the flow divider so as to produce fluid flow which closely follows the shape of the lower outlets.

Abstract: The invention relates to a bridge-like supporting structure made of fireproof ceramic stones, wherein two outer, end bearing stones have a largely horizontal step on the inner side of the outer, end bearing stones and a keystone arranged between the two bearing stones has at least one corresponding step on the two outer sides of the keystone. By means of said structure, thermal expansions can be better compensated.

Abstract: The pouring nozzle comprises an elongated, tubular part, defining a lower part of a pouring channel with a central longitudinal axis L, a plate-like part, provided with a flow-through opening between its surface opposite the tubular part and its section adjacent said tubular part. The flow-through opening defines an upper part of the pouring channel. The peripheral area between said surface and said section comprises four segments, namely two inclined bearing surfaces, opposite to each other, and two planar surface sections, arranged opposite and parallel to each other between said two distinct bearing surfaces. Each bearing surface is curved with respect to the central longitudinal axis L of the pouring channel. The curvature is therefore concave with respect to the central longitudinal axis L and in view of the opposite arrangement of the bearing surfaces the said bearing surfaces are arranged inversely to each other.

Abstract: A stopper rod having an elongate trunk with an upstream first end and a downstream second end, a continuous axial bore extending through the trunk from a stopper inlet in the upstream first end to a stopper outlet in the downstream second end, and a flow control device disposed within the bore to create a backpressure upstream thereof. The flow control device includes a body having an inlet, an outlet and a passageway therebetween, a wire positioned substantially axially in the passageway, and a retainer for maintaining the wire in the passageway. In one embodiment, the retainer is constituted by a portion of the wire itself, which is bent or crimped or configured as a loop; kink or spiral which prevents the wire from being dislodged from the passageway.
