Abstract: There is provided a mechanism for controlling communications conducted in multiple frequency bands so as to decrease an interference level between the communications. When an interference situation caused between a first set UL communications performed on at least two different frequency bands and a DL communication performed on another frequency band is determined, a frequency carrier deactivation processing is conducted so as to deactivate either one of carriers of the at least two frequency bands of the set of UL communications. The deactivation processing comprises for example an autonomous denial on the UE side or an interference reporting with deactivation on the eNB side.

  • Publication number: 20130194988
Abstract: In a wireless communications network, a user equipment is capable of operating in a first mode in which uplink signals are transmitted using a single antenna and in at least a second mode in which uplink signals are transmitted using two or more antennas. It is determined at the user equipment whether to request activation of the first or second mode and a first message is sent to a network node requesting activation of the first or second mode together with Medium Access Control (MAC) Scheduling Information (SI). Alternatively, the user equipment sends, to the network node, an indication of a threshold for use in determining whether to activate the first or second mode together with user equipment capability information. A second message is received at the user equipment from the network node indicating whether the first or second mode should be activated.

Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new method, apparatus and software related product (e.g., a computer readable memory) for implementing a D2D discovery resource allocation by a network for D2D discovery by UEs belonging to multiple cells in a D2D discovery area, e.g., in LTE wireless systems. A network such as LTE may determine an allocation of one or more resources (UL and/or DL) for a device-to-device discovery among a plurality of UEs located in multiple cells of the network in a D2D discovery area. The allocation of the one or more resources is then may be provided by the network to the plurality of UEs for performing, using these one or more resources, the D2D discovery between any two UEs of the plurality of UEs located in the multiple cells in the D2D discovery area.

  • Publication number: 20130182610
Abstract: The invention allows fairness provision in wireless mesh networks with respect to the data rate that stations communicate. A fairness metric is obtained during a mesh profile negotiation performed in order for a wireless station to join a wireless mesh network. Predetermined mesh transmission parameters of the wireless station are sent to previously joined wireless stations in a predetermined neighborhood of the wireless station. From the previously joined wireless stations their respective predetermined mesh transmission parameters are received. In response to a first predetermined event, a transmission opportunity window is determined for the wireless station based on the obtained fairness metric, the predetermined mesh transmission parameters of the wireless station, and the predetermined mesh transmission parameters of the previously joined wireless stations.

  • Publication number: 20130176945
Abstract: Indications of desired radio communications downlink characteristics are transmitted via a radio communications uplink from a user equipment to a node of a cellular wireless network, the indications each relating to one or more components of a radio communications link from the node to the user equipment. The indications are transmitted successively at different cycles, and at each different cycle a first parameter is determined, indicating a more preferred number of components and a second parameter is determined, indicating a less preferred number of components. First additional parameters are calculated and transmitted relating to the desired radio communications link quality corresponding to the first parameter and second additional parameters are calculated and transmitted relating to the desired radio communications link quality on the basis of the second parameter. The first and second parameters are each parameters which are variable between different cycles.

  • Patent number: 8477752
Abstract: A user equipment UE with an active connection (radio or logical) with a wireless network needs to establish an emergency service. The UE unilaterally deactivates an active session or context with the wireless network, and thereafter sends to the wireless network signaling to establish the emergency service, in which the signaling specifically identifies the service as an emergency service. In one embodiment (FIG. 1) the UE locally detaches from an active packet domain communication and sends an emergency attach so as to clear resources. In another embodiment (FIG. 2) the UE deactivates one or more contexts and sends an extended service request which identifies one or more context which remains active after the deactivating. In another embodiment (FIG. 3), after the signaling to establish the emergency service (SERVICE REQUEST) the UE sends a deactivation message explicitly indicating which context(s) is/are deactivated (PDN CONTEXT DEACTIVATION or PDN DISCONNECT REQUEST).

  • Patent number: 8478273
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for supplying information regarding a neighbor cell following cell reselection in a manner that reduces the signaling load on the network and conserves battery consumption by a mobile terminal. In this regard, the method, apparatus and computer program product do not blindly provide information regarding a neighbor cell that the current cell has already collected, but, instead, first determines if the neighbor information regarding a prior cell is different than and therefore will add to the information regarding neighbor cells that is already maintained by the current cell. Only after making such a determination may a mobile terminal signal the current cell as to the availability of neighbor information regarding a prior cell.
