    Abstract: An electroacoustic diaphragm is provided, which diaphragm comprising a pyrolytic graphite film obtained from a polymer selected from polyoxadiazole, an aromatic polyimide obtained by polycondensation or pyromellitic acid and an aromatic diamine, polybenzthiazole, polybenzbisthiazole, polybenzoxazole, polybenzbisoxazole, poly(pyromellitimide), poly(m-phenyleneisophthalamide). poly(m-phenylenebenzoimidazole), poly(m-phenylenebenzobisimidazole), polythiazole and poly-p-phenylenevinylene. The graphite film has a discontinuous layer of a polymeric material formed on and in the film whereby not only good electroacoustic characteristics, but also good mechanical strength and good adhesion of an adhesive applied thereof are obtained. A method for fabricating such diaphragm is also described.

    Abstract: An apparatus for automatically processing an animal carcass (8). Suspension means (122, 123) suspends the carcass (8) in an inverted position with the spine inclined upwardly towards the neck (11) with the spine located beneath the carcass (8) and so that the diaphragm (119) is approximately vertical. A cutting assembly (130) moves into the abdominal cavity adjacent to the diaphragm (119), and a cutting means (28) cuts the diaphragm (119) around the periphery. A brisket shearing means (21) cuts the brisket (20) with a shearing action along the brisket (20) from the abdomen and towards the neck end of the brisket (20). The reaction member (188) is pivotally movable relative to the brisket (20) about a rear end to generally follow the contours of the brisket (20).

    Abstract: As magnetically working substances capable of producing magnetically working abilities such as magnetic refrigeration or cooling in a wide range of temperatures with high efficiency, this invention utilizes amorphous alloys possessing a large magnetic moment and the spin glass property. Concrete examples of the amorphous alloys which meet the requirement are amorphous alloys containing rare earth metals, the same amorphous alloys absorbed hydrogen therein, and Fe-based amorphous alloys containing additional elements for formation of the amorphous phase. One element or the combination of two or more elements selected from the group just mentioned can be used, with the composition of alloys so adjusted for the desired magnetic transition points to be distributed or for the different magnetic transition points to be continuously distributed in a range of high to low temperatures.

    Abstract: By employing two independent, separate and distinct flow paths which are controllably sequentially opened during use in a single actuation operation, an error-free, spill-free flame and explosion proof liquid delivery/filling system is achieved. In the preferred embodiment, both flow paths are normally maintained in a closed, sealed configuration, requiring an actuation force to controllably, sequentially open the flow paths. In addition, by providing a cooperating, mating liquid transfer assembly, the container on which the liquid delivery/filling system is mounted can be refilled with safety and ease, completely eliminating spillage of the liquid. In this way, a fully integrated, cooperating, liquid flow controlling system is realized.

    Abstract: Apparatus is provided for carrying out a varnish impregnation method wherein a sheet-like base material is sequentially passed through a low-viscosity liquid storage region storing a low-viscosity liquid such as a solvent, a thermal syphon region, and a varnish storage region storing a varnish, the thermal syphon region being positioned between the low-viscosity liquid storage region and varnish storage region and communicating with both regions at air tight seals closed by liquid surfaces, and heating the base material in the thermal syphon region to vaporize the low-viscosity liquid impregnated in the base material. When the base material passes through the low-viscosity liquid, air contained in the base material is replaced with the low-viscosity liquid and discharged outside the apparatus. The low-viscosity liquid impregnated in the material is vaporized in the thermal syphon region.

The valve is preferably effectively symmetrical with a ball piston (55) reciprocable also to close and open the inlet port.

    Abstract: A head with a pick-up coil is attached to a supporter so that the head is freely movable along the direction perpendicular to the surface of a superconductor. Fluid spouted from the spout hole of the head maintains the height (gap space) of the head from the surface. The head is firmly fixed to the supporter in the direction along the surface. Since the relative position of the head in the direction along the surface of the superconductor is changable by drive means for moving the superconductor or the head, the distribution of the magnetic flux which is trapped in the superconductor is measured by scanning the surface of the superconductor with pick-up coil.

This structure enables electrons to be captured in regions without the grids (2) or around the grids (2) owing to the interaction between the electrons and the grids (2) in the confining layer (1). Further, the effective function of the potential of the grids (2) enables the same effect as that obtained by several tens atomic layers of a dissimilar material to be obtained by one or several atomic layers.

    Abstract: Steel is prepared for hot-dip coating in molten zinc, by forming lead chloride on it in a greater mass (at least 12 g/m.sup.2) than possible by evaporation from saturated aqueous solution. One way of so forming the lead chloride is to cathodize the steel (24000 coulomb/m.sup.2) in 1:1 HCl saturated with lead chloride, and air-dry the steel. The steel thus prepared is dipped for 2 minutes in molten zinc or, for greater corrosion resistance, in molten scrap zinc.

    Abstract: An adjustable intraluminal valvulotome including a hollow tubular member in which is slidably disposed a control wire. First and second spring wire elements respectively interconnect first and second cutting blades having first and second perpendicular cutting edges to one end of the control wire. There is a handle member proximate the other end of the control wire for controlling longitudinal movement of the control wire in and out of the tubular member. The handle member enables the first and second cutting blades to move from a first extended cutting position to a second retracted position. A receptacle at the distal end of the tubular member restrains the cutting blades in a fully retracted non-cutting position and prevents their engagement with the vein or valves. A method of using a valvulotome to rupture and render inoperative the valves is also disclosed.
