  • Patent number: 10830853
Abstract: A computer implemented method for measuring T1 in an anatomical region of interest during a dynamic procedure includes acquiring a reference MR image of the anatomical region of interest using a first flip angle. A first set of dynamic MR images of the anatomical region of interest are acquired using a second flip angle. The reference MR image and the first set are used to calculate a reference T1 value for tissue in the anatomical region of interest. During an intervention where the T1 value may change, a second set of dynamic MR images of the anatomical region of interest is acquired using the second flip angle. The reference MR image and the second set are used to calculate an estimated T1 value. The reference T1 value, the estimated T1 value, and the first and second flip angles may then be used to correct the estimated T1 value.

  • Patent number: 10827945
Abstract: Virtually every cancer patient is imaged with CT, PET or MRI. Importantly, such imaging reveals that tumors are complex and heterogeneous, often containing multiple habitats within them. Disclosed herein are methods for analyzing these images to infer cellular and molecular structure in each of these habitats. The methods can involve spatially superimposing two or more radiological images of the tumor sufficient to define regional habitat variations in two or more ecological dynamics in the tumor, and comparing the habitat variations to one or more controls to predict the severity of the tumor.

  • Patent number: 10828346
Abstract: There are provided compositions and methods for modulating stem cell division decisions, in particular, division symmetry. It has been demonstrated that wnt7a acts through frizzled-7 receptor expressed on the surface of adult stem cells, e.g. satellite stem cells, to activate the planar cell polarity (PCP) pathway, thereby promoting symmetrical expansion of stem cells. The compositions and methods of the invention are useful, for example, in modulating stem cell division symmetry in vitro and in vivo, in replenishing and expanding the stem cell pool, and in promoting the formation, maintenance, repair and regeneration of tissue.

  • Publication number: 20200348207
Abstract: A system for estimating a severity of a bearing fault in an induction motor, uses a set of filters and a set of quantitative models designed for a set of fault frequencies. The system, upon receiving the measurements of the stator current, extracts the first fault current from the stator current using the first filter, determine the first mutual inductance variation from the first fault current using the first quantitative model, and classify the first mutual inductance variation with the fault severity classifier to determine the severity of a first type of fault in the induction motor. Similarly, the system classifies a second type of fault using the second filter and the second quantitative model. The system outputs one or combination of the severity of the first type of fault in the induction motor and the severity of the second type of fault in the induction motor.

  • Publication number: 20200352018
Abstract: An undulator is adapted to a synchrotron storage ring or free electron lasers (FEL), especially to an undulator capable of switching polarization mode rapidly. In comparison with the EPU (elliptically polarized undulator) of APPLE II (Advanced Planar Polarized Light Emitter II) which conceived by Dr. S. Sasaki, the provided undulator does not use mechanical transmission mechanisms to drive the four magnetic pole arrays composed of permanent magnets. Hence, the polarization mode can be switched rapidly. Moreover, a polarization method of electron beam is also provided.
