Abstract: An apparatus and process are provided for electricity production and high-efficiency trapping of carbon dioxide, using carbon dioxide within combustion exhaust gas and converging technologies associated with a carbon dioxide absorption tower and a generating device using ions which uses a difference in concentration of salinity between seawater and freshwater. It is expected that enhanced electrical energy production efficiency, an effect of reducing costs for the operation of a carbon dioxide trapping process, and electricity production from carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas, can be simultaneously achieved by increasing the difference in concentration using an absorbent for absorbing carbon dioxide.

Abstract: The invention pertains to an assay that is capable of detecting a mutant polynucleotide in a plurality of polynucleotides. In one embodiment, the assay of the invention is capable of detecting one copy of a mutant polynucleotide in about 50,000 to about 100,000 copies of polynucleotides. The assay of the invention can be used to identify a mutant viral quasispecies or a mutant mRNA encoding an oncogenic protein from a tumor sample. The assay of the invention involves producing the single stranded complements of each of a plurality of polynucleotides containing the target sequence, wherein each of the single stranded complements contain a unique tag sequence and amplifying the single stranded complements by PCR using several sets of primers designed to introduce the sequences appropriate for a paired-end sequencing analysis of the amplified polynucleotides. The invention also pertains to kits for carrying out the assays of the invention.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide transmitters for light detection and ranging (LiDAR). The transmitter includes a laser source, a light collimator, and a beam shifter. The laser source is configured to provide a native laser beam. The light collimator is configured to collimate the native laser beam to form an input laser beam transmitting along a lateral direction. The output laser beam and the input laser beam are parallel to each other.
Abstract: A method for recovery of gold from gold-containing materials, such as electronic waste material, minerals and sands is described. The method includes crushing the gold containing material to obtain a particulate material. The particulate material is then preheated in an oxygen-containing gas environment in a preheating zone. The method also includes mixing the oxidized particulate material with a chlorine-containing material and treating the mixture in a reaction zone. The treatment is carried out by heating the mixture to provide thermal decomposition of the chlorine-containing material and produce a chlorine-containing gas mixture, and by applying an electromagnetic field to the chlorine-containing gas mixture to provide ionization of chlorine. A volatile gold-containing chloride product, produced in the reaction zone as a result of a chemical reaction between gold and chlorine ions, is then cooled to convert the volatile gold-containing chloride product into solid phase gold-containing materials.
