Abstract: A method for gas atomization of a titanium alloy, nickel alloy, or other alumina (Al2O3)-forming alloy wherein the atomized particles are exposed as they solidify and cool in a very short time to multiple gaseous reactive agents for the in-situ formation of a passivation reaction film on the atomized particles wherein the reaction film retains a precursor halogen alloying element that is subsequently introduced into a microstructure formed by subsequent thermally processing of the atomized particles to improve oxidation resistance.

Abstract: A drop testing apparatus is provided. The drop testing apparatus includes a plate connected to an external crane, a magnet holder provided at one end of the plate and fixed to the plate by an electromagnetic force, a counterweight provided at another end of the plate and facing the magnet holder, a dummy structure connected to the magnet holder through a connecting member and having a test specimen installed at one side thereof, a load cell unit provided between the dummy structure and the test specimen to measure impulse of the test specimen, and a controller configured to control the electromagnetic force to be created in the magnet holder and to receive the impulse measured by the load cell unit. When the electromagnetic force is cancelled, the connecting member disengages from the magnet holder, and the dummy structure and the test specimen fall onto the ground.
Abstract: The present invention is generally related to the analysis of chemical compositions of hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon blends. This method applies specifically to the problem of analyzing extremely complex hydrocarbon-containing mixtures when the number and diversity of molecules makes it impossible to realistically identify and quantify them individually in a reasonable timeframe and cost. The advantage to this method over prior art is the ability to separate and identify chemical constituents and solvent fractions based on their solvent-solubility characteristics, their high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) adsorption and desorption behaviors, and their interactions with stationary phases; and subsequently identify and quantify them at least partially using various combinations of non-destructive HPLC, destructive HPLC, and stand-alone detectors presently not routinely used for HPLC but reconfigured to obtain spectra on the fly.

Abstract: Focused library synthesis and medicinal chemistry on an oxadiazole-isopropylamide core proteasome inhibitor provided the lead compound that strongly inhibits CT-L activity. Structure activity relationship studies indicate the amide moiety and two phenyl rings are sensitive toward synthetic modifications. Only para-substitution in the A-ring was important to maintain potent CT-L inhibitory activity. Hydrophobic residues in the A-ring's para-position and meta-pyridyl group at the B-ring significantly improved inhibition. The meta-pyridyl moiety improved cell permeability. The length of the aliphatic chain at the para position of the A-ring is critical with propyl yielding the most potent inhibitor, whereas shorter (i.e. ethyl, methyl or hydrogen) or longer (i.e. butyl, propyl and hexyl) chains demonstrating progressively less potency. Introduction of a stereogenic center next to the ether moiety (i.e.

Abstract: A bit interleaver, a bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) device and a bit interleaving method are disclosed herein. The bit interleaver includes a first memory, a processor, and a second memory. The first memory stores a low-density parity check (LDPC) codeword having a length of 64800 and a code rate of 3/15. The processor generates an interleaved codeword by interleaving the LDPC codeword on a bit group basis. The size of the bit group corresponds to a parallel factor of the LDPC codeword. The second memory provides the interleaved codeword to a modulator for quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulation.

Abstract: A method for loading liquefied nitrogen (LIN) into a cryogenic storage tank initially containing liquid natural gas (LNG) and a vapor space above the LNG. First and second nitrogen gas streams are provided. The first nitrogen stream has a lower temperature than the second nitrogen gas stream. While the LNG is offloaded from the storage tank, the first nitrogen gas stream is injected into the vapor space. The storage tank is then purged by injecting the second nitrogen gas stream into the storage tank to thereby reduce a natural gas content of the vapor space to less than 5 mol %. After purging the storage tank, the storage tank is loaded with LIN.
Abstract: The present invention relates to small molecule 4-(piperazin-1-yl)quinazolin-2-amino compounds with formula (I) useful for inhibiting signalling by certain toll-like receptors (TLRs), especially TLR9. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are members of the larger family of evolutionarily conserved pattern recognition receptors which are critical first line of defense for self-nonself discrimination by the host immune response. Aberrant TLR9 activation is implicated in autoreactive inflammation in different autoimmune diseases. The invention depicts compounds with formula (I), composition and methods can be used in a number of clinical applications, including as pharmaceutical agents and methods for treating conditions involving unwanted immune activity due to TLR9 activation.
