  • Publication number: 20200113746
Abstract: Various methods for detecting moisture in briefs compatible with high volume manufacturing are disclosed. The embodiments herein facilitate protection of the method of adding moisture sensing to a diaper, but could also be used to add sensing to pads and bandages. The primary design intent is optimal moisture detection and low per unit cost. Electrodes within a garment measure electrical properties of the electrodes to determine if the item has contacted moisture. The target moisture is urine, however, other sources and types of moisture can also be sensed. Additional analysis capabilities can be added by selecting particular electrodes or add materials that may react with chemical components of the moisture. Applications of the research Include monitor of incontinence using smart brief (e.g. diaper); monitor perspiration, bleeding, or failure of the protective garment; and monitoring exposure of an item to moisture, including but not limited to inanimate items.

Abstract: A dual-view image device for monitoring a heat source includes a first thermal image sensor, a second thermal image sensor, a driver and a processor. The first thermal image sensor captures a first thermal image having a heat source within a first view angle. The second thermal image sensor captures a second thermal image having a heat source within a second view angle smaller than the first view angle. The pixels occupied by the heat source in the first thermal image are fewer than that occupied by the heat source in the second thermal image. The driver drives the first and the second thermal image sensor to track and position the heat source within the first and the second view angle. The processor combines the first and the second thermal image into a dual-view image and outputs the dual-view image having the heat source.

  • Publication number: 20200117900
Abstract: A firearm monitoring and remote support system monitors firearms and other assets within a deployment location to detect threats to users of the firearms and to perform actions in response to the threats. Measurements recorded using sensors of the firearms and/or of the other assets are used to determine changes in motion, position, orientation, and/or operation of the firearms and/or of the other assets. The measurements are processed to determine the nature of a threat and the particular actions to perform in response thereto. Graphical user interfaces visualizing the users within the deployment location are updated using the measurements to show, in real-time, positions and orientations of cones of fire for the users within the deployment location. In some cases, the cones of fire may be used to detect threats within the deployment location. In some cases, the actions to perform in response to a detected threat may be automated.
